I happen to be such an expert. I hold an AMT, and I am fully qualified to conduct an annual inspection on a 747 (or any other aircraft).
The interior is completely removed during every annual inspection. This is required to check the structure of the aircraft itself since the interior can easily hide corrosion, damage, or other defects. The interior provides NO strength to the aircraft. It's just dead weight. I might be pretty dead weight, but dead weight it is.

Every inch of wiring is checked too. So is every inch of control cables, pushrods, torque tubes, etc. Also, various components such as hydraulic pumps, electric motors, servos, sensors, etc., is checked end to end.

When an interior is changed (as in the upcoming conversion), a simple weight and balance check is made as well. Also any interference with controls or systems is checked out as well.

This is done each year on every aircraft in service.
