The Tangerine Turnip causes beef prices to skyrocket

Today's herds were reduced in size back in the Biden administration it takes 2-3 years to increase herd size.

  • Biological Lag: Cattle have a long gestation period (around 283 days or roughly 9 months). After birth, it takes time to raise calves to market weight and for heifers to mature and enter the breeding herd. It can take three years from the time a producer decides to retain a heifer calf until her offspring contribute to an increase in beef supplies.
I'm not sure Democrats know how to shop...lol

Beef prices have reached record highs: here's why that's the case
Tariffs are one of the reasons for (spiking beef prices).

"One of our biggest partners, Canada, theirs has increased because of tariffs," Burnstein said. "Now the Mexican side has increased."

Another reason? Cattle supply. According to the USDA, Herd Size is the lowest it's been in 74 years, with a sharp decline over the last five years. The USDA is attributing this to persistent droughts, raising the cost of feed for farmers
.

So herd size was reduced during the Biden administration it takes at least 3 years to increase herd size. It is a supply and demand issue.

It's incredible how much beef costs now. Fortunately it's not a big part of our diet but still. How do young families afford to feed their kids? You used to be able to get a sirloin steak on sale for $6/lb. Now it's over $11/lb. Meijer had ground chuck on sale for $6/lb yesterday.

Good old Trump, so much winning. Not.
Yikes. We don't really eat red meat anymore for health and humanitarian reasons, but MAGA morons have no one to blame but themselves for their love of tariffs and their unrepentent climate denial.

What caused the herds of cattle to reduce???? Do you know???

A story for every occasion, Ms. Fat Lame. Anything to shift blame from "I'll reduce grocery prices on Day One" to a demented ex-President.
:rofl2: 😂 :rofl2:

The Tangerine Turnip is responsible. Beef prices are almost 13 percent higher than they were a year ago, and the data show that prices didn't really start spiking until around March of this year.

The tariffs with Brazil. We import a lot of beef from them.

Indeed... There are big sales everywhere...

How odd that there were no "big sales everywhere" when Pres. Biden was in office and you were screeching about high prices and starving ppl who couldn't even afford Taylor Swift tickets. I'm sure you can find some word salad to explain this amazing turn-around, right? :rofl2:

Get all your sales in now after next week more prices will be going up and up IF Trump doesn't back track on his tariffs AGAIN.

No one believes that an elderly spinster dog hoarder put in a "big order" for anything, nor do we believe the quoted price. Toxic has stated in the past that she never buys meat from grocery stores. Maybe the local food pantry takes orders?

ROFLMAO.
It's funny the way you suddenly became an expert on beef herds but completely ignore the information from the experts on beef herds. In order to increase the herd size you have to reduce the number of cattle slaughtered. Increasing the herd size reduces the supply of processed beef.

U.S. Cattle Production

Cattle Cycle

The cattle cycle describes a period of time (8–12 years) when the national cattle herd—the total number of all cattle and calves—begins its first year of growth after a period of decline. Then, the herd size will peak after several years of growth, or expansion, and then it will decline for several years before it starts to expand again, starting a new cycle. It is influenced by the combined effects of: cattle prices and input costs that drive cow-calf producer profitability; the gestation period for cattle; the time needed for raising calves to market weight; and climate conditions.
...
Adverse climate, like persistent dry conditions leading to drought, can diminish pasture conditions and reduce harvested feed supplies, which can alter a cycle’s direction and duration.
