The Tangerine Turnip causes beef prices to skyrocket

I don't see that happening... And you've been saying this is going to happen for months... We'll chat and develop a strategy when and if it does...
Well maybe if you paid attention to the actual price of things you would see that the tariffs Trump has already put on have increased prices of some goods.
And IF he actually does put the other ones on they will drive up the cost of just about everything we buy.
We will see what Trump does in a week.

I pay very close attention to prices... That's why I offered help....

If beef prices rise the herd sizes will increase. That is what ranchers do. Auto industry and cattle industry are totally different. Just so you know. Cars go honk and cows go moo.
Cattle are an investment that requires cattle feed, waste management, health management. It's not just a matter of getting the females pregnant.

Since you and Republicans decided that climate change is a great idea, we are now in a cycle of persistent droughts, making cattle feed stock frequently either prohibitively expensive or unavailable.

Thanks for teaching me my business. We have always had rain and drought cycles. My family has always managed them by adjusting the herd size.

So first you were a doctor, now you're a cattle rancher?

"According to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service, the total US beef cattle inventory is at its smallest level since 1961. This decline is primarily attributed to a combination of factors, most importantly drought and high input costs", not Joe Biden.

This article is from 2024, so you now have to factor in the effect of your tariffs on prices.

High input costs is high feed costs caused by high fertilizer, trucking prices and drought.

I'm a retired doctor. My family has owned property along the Sabine river in East Texas for over 100 years. We run cattle and grow watermelons and cantaloupes. My younger brother manages the herd my older brother and I manage the money end. Rotating the cattle to the field before we plant helps fertilize the melons. After the melons are picked we rotate the cattle back on to the vines and they love to eat them while they make more fertilizer . If you do a search I have made posts about shooting feral pigs off our property. They can cause a lot of damage to the melon crop.
