Just handwaving about entropy = nothing in the prevalence of life.

And besides: given the fact that we have this giant sun pumping energy into our system, why does life need entropy to decrease in order to form?

Seems that the impact of entropy is less important than the addition of energy.

Where did you get this? I've never heard that!

The way I remember it is because life takes a low entropy energy source (sunlight), and metabolizes and radiates it into a higher entropy energy form. Therefore it accords with the second law of thermodynamics.

I still struggle with radiation having entropy. Needless to say in my brief association with thermo I never heard anyone talk about the entropy of radiation.

You should have invested your own time reading about physics, history, religion if this is really that important to you.

It is sufficient to say that any collection of particles has entropy. This may come as a shock to you, but sunlight and infrared radiation are composed of wave-like particles called photons.
