Self defense and defense of others, whether you are Trumps Secret Service detail or Congress Security means you do not have to wait until they are beating you to then try and defend yourself.
When you have an active mob, weaponizing their numbers, attacking and beating the cops who try to stop them from getting to the targets they are screaming to get and harm (Pence, Pelosi, others), security can see that and understand the risk. That if they allow the mob to advance and surround them, they then give the mob all their power and can no longer defend their charges. The mob gets the Congress people and the security's guns and only the mob's intention will then determine if this Congress people live or die or how much harm they will face.
That is why that shooting was one of the most righteous we have seen recorded and why he is considered a hero.

The point i am making is that law enforcement can and does WRONGLY try to give orders demanding compliance to people who understand the law and constitution and REFUSE to comply as the police cannot identify any law they have broken and yet still are making demands for ID and compliance, which is unconstitutional.
