Trump's tariffs cost American households $1,000 last year

President Donald Trump's tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year, according to new research from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.

The cost is set to go even higher this year to $1,300 per household, assuming the existing tariffs stay in place, the research said.

The research called Trump's tariffs "the largest U.S. tax increase as a percent of GDP since 1993." It suggests the president's signature economic policy is exacerbating cost of living concerns at a time when many households are grappling with persistently high prices.

According to the research think tank Tax Foundation, the federal government collected $264 billion in total tariff revenues in 2025 -- far short of the trillions regularly touted by the White House. The research also finds the tariffs will offset most of the economic benefits of the new tax cuts from Trump's signature tax law that took effect this year.

ABC News? The propaganda arm of the leftist party? LMFAO

On might ponder what having millions of illegals run across the open border for four years cost the average taxpayer every year.

You keep acting like tariffs are uniquely bad because “they raise prices.”

But that’s the part you still don’t get: the stuff you support has been raising prices too.

This whole time, you thought you were “taxing the rich” or “making corporations pay.” In reality, those costs get passed through too — just like tariffs — only in a more hidden way.

That’s what deficit spending does. It doesn’t make costs disappear. It spreads them out through inflation, borrowing costs, and weaker purchasing power, so you don’t connect the policy to the price tag. And once the costs are hidden, it becomes almost impossible to get people to stop demanding more spending.

You were fine with it when the tax was hidden, delayed, and sold to you as someone else’s burden.

But guess what — it was always your burden too.

If that's the case and its costing us more money, than why are business set to sue and ask for refunds??? If anybody should be demanding fuckin refunds, it should be American consumers. These whining mf's don't absorb costs, they simply pass it down to us and they want to sue?? Make it make sense, yo

Inflation is below what it was with Biden and has remained so since Trump took office. Ending inflation is likely impossible for any President to do.
we designed a system that is intended to inflate.

politicians don't need to curry favor any longer. they aren't going to give that game up willingly.
