oh, subsidies of 'foreign' corporations is a good thing now?
a third possibility would be less profit if you believe in a free market economy and demand driven my prices
It depends on what the foreign corporation brings to the table. Kia Motors, for instance, provides thousands of jobs in our region. Why wouldn't we do anything we could, to encourage their economic prosperity? Now, I am not a big believer in government "subsidies" but I also know Democrats like to confuse words often, and a "subsidy" could be what most normal people would call a "tax" or a "regulatory fee" imposed on the corporation. By lifting the tax or fee, it becomes, in Demo-speak, a "subsidy" to the corporation.
Your "third possibility" is non-realistic. Corporations don't up and decide they are going to make less profit, it doesn't matter what you might think. Most of them have a formula they go by, and any increase in cost which would effect a predetermined profit, is factored into the consumer prices. and the customer pays the extra amount, it never comes out of profit. This is why conservatives often say, corporations do NOT pay tax! Oh, you can raise their tax rates, as high as you want to go, and they will increase their prices accordingly. If you succeed in pricing them out of the business, they will close operations here, and seek another country to make money in.
So you guys kinda have a dilemma here... you hate capitalism and the greedy 'rich people' corporations... but they are the ones who create the jobs, prosperity, wealth, and yes... tax revenues!
