Jarhead says he "stands with the people" of Egypt... What does he mean?

I just thought it was a peculiar statement from our retard friend, that he "stands with the people of Egypt." Since he made it abundantly clear, he thought the Iraqi people should have been left on their own to deal with Saddam. It's kind of a convoluted principle he seems to have here. He went on to chortle something about not supporting an invasion of Egypt, but I never suggested such a thing, I just asked him a question. What did he mean by "stand with the people?" ...Stand there in his underwear, eating his powdered doughnut, watching Cairo burn on CNN?

I can't figure it out... was this just a meaningless sentiment he tossed out because he thought it made him look compassionate and sympathetic to the protesters or something? Does he even know what the protesters favor or want? But most importantly, just how is he prepared to "stand with" them? Will he lobby for UN sanctions against Mubarak, or maybe a War Crimes Tribunal? What if Mubarak decides he's staying in power, and starts mass killing the protesters? How is Jarhead prepared to "stand with" the people then? ...Stand in his shower stall and salute while he pees and sings the Egyptian National Anthem? How exactly is he prepared to make a stand for the people of Egypt? Curious minds want to know!

If you think that's confusing consider this. When two people are seated at a table and one utters an incorrect remark and the other person states the factual version the first person may say, "I stand corrected" even though the individual is sitting down. :)

He probably means the same thing Bush did when he said he stood w/ the people of Darfur, or Reagan when he said he stood w/ the Baltic states....

It means he doesn't want to take a stance against things like the Muslim Brotherhood and would rather mouth platitudes than actually put himself out even at a place like this.

Jarod, however, isn't in a position where such diplomacy and careful wording really makes a difference. He wants others to take a strong stance but will not himself and IMO I find that rather weak, but then I do run a site to gather opinions, not platitudes.

Have you taken a stance against the Muslim Brotherhood?

Yes, in the thread that this thread was "birthed" from in regular Jarod fashion. I pointed out who founded it, what it stands for, how they create websites that say one thing in English for idiots to read, while others in Arabic that say entirely different things...

These are not nice people. I'd prefer we work against them coming to power anywhere.

Oh - then going back to the OP on this one, what does your stance "mean"? Are you willing to use military force to do something about it, as Dixie advocated on the thread this was birthed from?

"I really consider President and Mrs. Mubarak to be friends of my family"---Hillary Clinton

It would really depend on if there was a center of operations and a place where they could be attacked in such a way. One thing I know, standing around talking them up as if they were the second coming of Buddha and so very peaceful isn't the right approach, nor would solely mouthing platitudes. Thankfully people in those positions mouth platitudes to cameras while actually working to do things in the background.

Exactly WHERE did Dixie "advocate" the use of military force...???

On the other thread, he essentially said that support without force is meaningless. He has since amended to include sanctions.
So its not in THIS thread?.....because I couldn't find anything even close to that in any of his post in THIS thread. I get it..

Yeah - essentially.

That's why I said "the other thread"...
Well, let me clue you in to a little "understanding the English language"

The opinion "that support without force is meaningless"....IS NOT advocating anything at all....its stating an opinion....

Thats factually, not essentially....though I'm not familiar with anything else that was said in the other thread.
