Ann Romney Has No Dignity?

What's really funny is that Yurt doesn't see what he just did here.

He just defended Hillary Rosen.

You don't get it both ways. If that's what "work" means when Mitt Romney uses it about stay at home moms, that's what work means when Rosen used it.

Thanks Yurt! I couldn't agree more! Who will tell the Romneys? In fact, who in hell is going to tell Damo?

horrible spin and rosen didn't say what i did. you just can't face the fact that you twisted mitt's words to the point of absurd dishonesty.

if i said: i want this person to have help so they can experience the dignity of being a musician

does that mean that i said you can only have dignity by being a musician. you already admitted you know he was talking about work outside the home, not that he was saying stay at home means =/= work. it was poorly worded, but, you're taking it to far outer space extreme.

And it will not do well for them. They are mad that she made Hillary Rosen look like an ass, and are now trying to make it look like she meant something different. Stay at home parents are valuable, and if that is the career choice of a parent it adds to society. To say she didn't work as a lawyer and therefore is valueless is a disgusting projection. I understand that the Democrats don't value my wife, but they are sure happy to bring her up when they want to dismiss her value and tell me that it is "giving myself airs" to compare two women who chose the same profession solely because they believe that he is richer than I am and therefore holds "more value" as a human.

What a load of shit. No one gives a shit about Hilary Rosen except you and Dixie. That's quite the company you keep. Dixie....

Yes, a poor first wife would not understand the burdens of having millions.

fair enough. but i don't see how that makes her a cripple. we can't possibly understand everyone's lives. rana, what you're saying is, obama is a cripple because of his life, that i'm a cripple because of my life. i don't see it that way, i see it as the differences we all bring to the table. it does not make us cripple, it makes us stronger.

Yet you have stated clearly that Ann Romney has nothing in common with other stay at home moms. That is where you are 100% wrong and you are in no place to pass that judgement since you haven't been there. You have no idea what you are talking about. You are just angry and venting that anger against Ann Romney in a child like manner. So enough of the tantrum. Try acting like an adult again.

She is not 100% wrong.

No you do not. You know nothing about what it takes to be a mother. You know nothing about the experiences Ann Romney and others have gone through as mothers. You are not qualified at all to make any judgements about what they have in common.

The fact is Ann Romney will always have far more in common with the average stay at home mom than you.

Total fucking bullshit.

I am not the one that fired a shot... you did. You are the one playing class warfare. You are the one attacking someone for their choice in life and you are the one making proclamations about what Ann Romney has/has not experienced relative to other moms. Your attacks are baseless and quite pathetic.

Note that I counter your points with every bit as much fact as you use; none.

how does this make her cripple? does this mean a poor first wife is cripple because she can't understand those who have money?

By the way, pounce on Damo, I only used cripple in reference to his post. It is not the word I would have chosen. Ask him why the use of cripple.

still no quotes darla?

“I wanted to increase the work requirement,” said Romney. “I said, for instance, that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, ‘Well that’s heartless.’ And I said, ‘No, no, I’m willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It’ll cost the state more providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.”

rana...i didn't see damo's post, i didn't read all the posts in this thread. there are far to many. you used the word, and now appear to be backing off it.

what post did damo say it in?

I'll tell you, only democrats have yet to try to tell me that my wife has less value because of her career choice. I've been told that she "had it easy" because we aren't poor, but then I've been told that I am "putting on airs" because we aren't rich. I've been told that other people "just don't have that option".

Almost nothing I have heard from Democrats in regard to our choice (yeah we made it together and stuff) to have one of us stay at home (whomever was making less at the time, and believe me it was close, had I not been promoted close to birth I would be the on scene parent).

They say they value her, but their actions and what they do denies that. While, contrariwise, from republicans I have only heard support for my wife, an understanding that it has value.

I say that because of what I experience, both here and in my life. Democrats do not value my wife, they hold only scorn for choosing to hold a traditional role. Often they believe that I somehow "forced" her to make this choice. She's told me that some people have approached her to advocate she "stop doing what he says" and return to work... They do not even believe she may have chosen this and that together we believe it is valuable.

It must suck to be so misunderstood.

Not even close. I think Clinton was a pretty decent President. We got Bush 43 because Gore was a crappy campaigner who couldn't even win his home state.

No, we got Bush because of Jeb Bush, his secretary of state, and the supreme court.

thank you.

that is a fucked up statement. they don't "need" to go to work to have dignity. i don't think he meant it that way, but the guy obviously can't speak well.

post #118 of mine, in his quote and it is common debating technique to use the words of your opponent for your rebuttal.

Who said all that, besides yourself? I don't see anyone claiming stay at home moms are unintelligent and incapable. They just do not have the same experiences as women who work outside the home. I personally would rather be a stay at home mom, because when I had a job, I still had to come home from my job and do my home work. Women who are not burdened by financial problems have one less worry in their lives.

They say it about Ann Romney. She "couldn't possibly understand", there are cartoons all over with her servants objecting, etc.

They dismiss her because of her career choice, then say she can't understand basic human concepts all based on what she chose to do and because she married a successful man. I'll repeat. It is disgusting to dismiss her contribution because you want to pretend she is inhuman and incapable of any understanding due to the facts that she 1. was a stay at home mother and 2. is married to a rich man.

If you ask again "who" is doing that, then you simply aren't paying attention.

No. "They" are saying she doesn't understand what average american women are going through. The rest is your projection.

I haven't seen the cartoons or the quotes, I was Spring cleaning and read very little news this weekend. So your condescending tone does apply this time, I wasn't paying attention.

This is the way I understand it. They were talking in the context of economics and Ann Romney doesn't have any idea what the "average" women may deal with as far as the econonmy goes. Mitt said he confers with her and it went from there. She may know what it is like to raise five boys, but did she ever have to tell them, no, because they couldn't afford it? I don't think so.
