To be fair, it works the other way too. No Arab nation really cares about the Palestinians. If they did, they would allow them in as refugees.

The Palestinians are effective pawns for Hamas and Hezbollah.

As I mentioned to StoneByStone in another thread, criminal elements can easily dominate a drug market that is legalized. The historical example I gave was the mafia after the repeal of Prohibition.

There are ways to legalize substances that were once illegal without having this problem, but it requires a lot of state control over the supply. Some states have taken necessary measures to reduce the presence of criminals in these markets, but not enough of them seem to have given this proper thought.
