A Congressional Gold Medal for NYC Subway Hero Daniel Penny? Make It So!

Yes, let us blame the (black) victim killed by an out-of-control white man who is a "hero." Diesel is right. You are truly a sick bitch lacking in compassion, morality, integrity, intelligence. Your faux "concern" for the dead guy rings about as true as your pretense to once having been a teacher. Now be sure to repeat the same smarmy dreck over and over for the next week or two, for your attention fix. You *could* put your money where your gossipy mouth is, and do something to help the homeless, mentally-ill people in YOUR community, you know. But you won't. It's far easier to sit on your withered ass and pontificate on what others should do, isn't it?
Now that's how you start a Saturday! You already won on JPP today. 🙂

Actually, at least 2 of us spend a lot of time on the subway. Since we all know what Penny looks like now, I hope he is wise enough to avoid it.
Penny's problem was simply being overly aggressive, as Marines are trained to be, not that he is evil, racist or intended to kill the guy.

From what I read, Penny ignored the nutjob until he started threatening a mother and child. Who here wouldn't come to the defense of a mother and child?

As with all the court cases where Trump was judged guilty, I support the court system and believe they came to the right decision here. As for the Congressional Gold Medal, it's bullshit to recommend it in this case. It demeans the medal when it's handed out for political reasons, not the reasons for which it was intended.

The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest civilian award given by the United States Congress.

It is awarded to persons who have made a major and long-standing impact on American history and culture.

Defending is not the same thing as murdering. I don't doubt the jury verdict. The system we use is not perfect, but it often works.

What's disgusting is watching this aggro bro be hailed as a hero for killing a skinny, crazy guy on a fucking train. Like Babbitt, he wasn't armed, so if the MAGA morons knew the first thing about consistency, they would be calling Neely a martyr.

Agreed on this point, but that's not Penny's fault. No need to demonize Penny when it's the MAGA morons who are the evil ones by lying and by being hypocrites.

A House Republican is pushing to award Daniel Penny the highest civilian honor that Congress can award, and I'm all for it. Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz) plans to introduce a resolution to grant the Congressional Gold Medal to Penny, the U.S. Marine veteran who defended himself and fellow passengers against a threatening homeless man on a crowded New York City subway, before being unjustly prosecuted by D.A. Alvin Bragg.

"Daniel Penny’s actions exemplify what it means to stand against the grain to do right in a world that rewards moral cowardice," said Crane. "Our system of ‘justice’ is fiercely corrupt, allowing degenerates to steamroll our laws and our sense of security, while punishing the righteous. Mr. Penny bravely stood in the gap to defy this corrupt system and protect his fellow Americans. I’m immensely proud to introduce this resolution to award him with the Congressional Gold Medal to recognize his heroism."

And President Trump should invite Penny to sit next to Mrs. Trump at the State of the Union address and recognize him as a Good Samaritan and hero who was subjected to unjust treatment..
Back to the thread title.... Perhaps they will create a special award ....with dome much needed new programs... Whatever happened to the Guardian Angel program?

Sure. Whatever. Penny is, however, guilty of being a scared pussy who choked a homeless man to death on a subway car. If MAGA didn't worship this asshole, I probably never would have even heard about the incident. So they can all get my criticism and if Penny is seen in a train station again, my guess is that he'll get his ass beaten.

You and I can agree to disagree on Penny being a coward for helping a mother and child.

If you want to demonize someone or something, then why not demonize a system that allows a mentally ill young man like Jordan Neely to go both homeless and without mental healthcare? Why go after a guy who was simply trying to do the right thing?

Neely's family had imagined a great future ahead for him: "I said, 'Jordan, one day you might be famous," Neely's great aunt Mildred Mahazu told ABC News. "And he said, 'Really, Aunt Mildred?'"

But by the age of 30, Neely was homeless and appeared to be experiencing a mental illness crisis when he was killed after a subway passenger named Daniel Penny held him in a six-minute-long chokehold, officials said.

I do criticize the way we treat and mistreat our unhomed, mentally unwell, and substance addicted friends. Matter of fact, I have dedicated and continue to dedicate a big part of my life toward that type of charity, so save your lazy lectures for someone who might need them.

Penny was not simply "helping" a mother and child. He choked a defenseless man FOR SIX MINUTES until he died. Sit quietly and still for 6 minutes and realize what that means.
