A divided nation asks: What's holding our country together?

but a politics that allows you to live is a basic need. being obvious means it's true, not false.

The fact remains Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs isn't about politics. There are people in the world who never heard of Trump or the United States and, like Robert Stroud, can become self-actualized. Tribes around the world existed for the past few hundred thousand years without "politics", but their members could become self-actualized.

Do you think Siddhartha Gautama was self-actualized? He wasn't political. If so, why? If not, why not? I think he was as were many people throughout history. If you desired to focus upon it, you could become self-actualized without college, without becoming rich and by living a bohemian lifestyle.

There are poor, oppressed people who are self-actualized and rich people who are not. Trump is not. Neither are Junior, Ivanka or Eric. It's not something they desire since they are focused purely on material concerns. It's not about money or politics. It's not about materialism or consumerism. It's about maximizing your abilities.

self-actualization as the process of becoming “everything you are capable of becoming.”....

...Self-actualization doesn’t involve perfection or things always going smoothly. You can become self-actualized and still face difficulties.

In fact, a huge part of self-actualization is recognizing your limits in addition to focusing on your unique strengths — whether those involve practical skills, parenting, artistic talents, or emotional insights.

From there, you would live your life in a way that best utilizes your strengths while taking steps to achieve your dreams, both large and small.

Yet you brought up a touchy-feely side of psychology, Humanistic Psych, not Behaviorism which isn't touchy-feely. Why?

https://www.simplypsychology.org/perspective.html
Behaviorism is different from most other approaches because they view people (and animals) as controlled by their environment and specifically that we are the result of what we have learned from our environment. The behaviorist perspective is concerned with how environmental factors (called stimuli) affect observable behavior (called the response).

The behaviorist perspective proposes two main processes whereby people learn from their environment: namely classical conditioning and operant conditioning. Classical conditioning involves learning by association, and operant conditioning involves learning from the consequences of behavior.

Humanistic psychology is a psychological perspective that emphasizes the study of the whole person (know as holism). Humanistic psychologists look at human behavior, not only through the eyes of the observer, but through the eyes of the person doing the behaving.

Humanistic psychologists believe that an individual's behavior is connected to his inner feelings and self-image. The humanistic perspective centers on the view that each person is unique and individual, and has the free will to change at any time in his or her life.

The humanistic perspective suggests that we are each responsible for our own happiness and well-being as humans. We have the innate (i.e., inborn) capacity for self-actualization, which is our unique desire to achieve our highest potential as people.

Psychologist Phillippe J Rushton got me into racial science.

I'll admit his idea that you can either be well endowed & stupid, or smart & not so well endowed was not his strongest point.

But, he did collect a lot of studies, medical journals etc to formulate his opinions.

it presupposes a political climate where actualization of self is even a concept, or people are allowed to live in the first place.

You can also go poo poo without a potty.
But, most people try to go in the potty.

behaviorism is how the master race treats the goyim subspecie.

humanism is how the master race considers itself.

all cleared up.

I do agree with Maslow on a hierarchy of needs.

Not so sure he is all correct.

However, it does appear Limousine Liberals adore Black people often, well do long as they don't have to live near them, that is.

Not sure if that's because they're looking for brownie points after achieving everything.
Or
They read too much Maslow & others like him.

Humanistic psychology is a model of the human mind. Like any model, it's not a perfect recreation of the original. It's simply a perspective for understanding.

Which is correct here in the picture? Is it a rabbit or a duck?

It's neither; it's just a drawing constructed in such a way it resembles either a rabbit or a duck. The perception is up to you to see one or both. It's often used in teaching psychology students about on how human perception works.

You are choosing to see others as either superior or inferior instead of how each person is. That's your choice, your perception.

it's a donkey dick sandal!

"let me live", said the baby, wishing to live, and be, and dream.

"maslows hierarchy of needs isn't political," retorted dutch slaver wryly, as he kicked the baby.

You sure it's not the DoDo?

Even my Cat does better than that.

You really need to up your Maslow hierarchy of needs if you're going to plop on the floor while my Cat plops in the box.

Dude, you are good at posting links, but you need to work on understanding what they mean.
