A Felon Is Denied The Right To Own A Gun to Protect His Family

being a grammar nazi is the first sure sign of someone losing an argument.............

Surely you can't be imagining that I'm engaging you in an argument. You? Please.

I'm merely bemoaning the fact that people can't write a readable sentence anymore.

You're clearly not ashamed, but you sure as hell should be.

your clear delusional desire to avoid anything that might even remotely dictate that you've been wrong prevents you from assuming you've had an argument..............basically you're refusing to acknowledge reality

Once a person has served their time, they should have all rights restored to them. If they can't be trusted in public with a weapon, they can't be trusted in public.

Thats like saying a pervert who molested kids after serving his time can live next to a school or playground work as a baby sitter . felons are more serious crimes and you loose rights when you are found guilty of it.

So why he/she is out of prison?

I never understood the concept of not allowing them to vote. The reason I have heard is because they would be voting for corrupted politicians. Aren't all politicians corrupted anyway?

I believe felons can vote in PA. once they serve their time, parole and probation. They cannot own a firearm though.

A person uses a knife in a commission of a felony is denied the right to own a knife after he/she serves his/her time.
A person uses a car in a commission of a felony is denied the right to own a car after he/she serves his /her time.
A person who doesn't use either one in a commission of a felony is denied the right to own either one after he/she serves his/her time.

Would that make sense to you?

The entire emotionally loaded thread title is false. Having a gun in the home makes your family less safe. It increases a family member's chance of being killed or injured.

Drunk driving increases a family member's chance of being killed or injured.

Why is it even a question? The Constitution is clear.

You're guess is better than mine. I believe like STY, a non-violent felony should only restrict firearm ownership until full sentence is completed. Violent and sex offenders should be restricted.

In other words, felons who served their time for assault with knives should be denied the right to own knifes.

That forces him to make changes in his life that are probably better for him, in the long run, than owning a firearm.

Become law abiding.
Choose not to associate with criminals.
Invest in non lethal methods of self defense.

Sometimes we make mistakes which have loooong term serious repercussions.

A felon in that situation has got to realize that he made a serious mistake which will affect him the rest of his life.

He can decide to make better decisions from now on.

Or, he can try to get a gun for self protection and show the authorities, after he gets arrested again, that his first prison stay wasn't long enough.

One of my classmates got busted for selling a 1/4 lb. of weed 40 years ago. He hasn't been arrested for anything since, yet by law, cannot own a firearm. He has owned them ever since he got off probation and no one has squealed on him. If someone does, should he go back to prison?

if they can't be trusted in public, then they shouldn't be in public. That was pretty clear.
