"A Good Outcome for Ukraine Is Vital for the Security of Every Nation..."

Summit meeting in London to prepare new cease-fire plan. Possibly this time Trump won't make a jerk of himself.

At his recent TV appearance with the President of France beside him, Trump said the U.S. was only doing what other NATO members were doing by demanding a mineral deal in exchange for more aid to Ukraine, whereupon Macron grabbed the President's arm and corrected him. France is not demanding compensation, Macron pointed out. Having learned nothing, Trump then said the same thing Friday in his televised appearance with Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of England. The Prime Minister likewise on national television corrected our President.

Life goes on:

"Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britain said Sunday that he would work with the leaders of Ukraine and France on a cease-fire plan to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, as the region reels from the Trump administration’s recent moves.

The comments came ahead of a summit in London on Sunday, where Mr. Starmer met with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine and other European leaders to discuss the war. The gathering took on greater urgency after Mr. Zelensky’s heated Oval Office meeting with President Trump and Vice President JD Vance on Friday raised fears the U.S. would try to strong-arm Ukraine’s president into making a peace deal on whatever terms the Americans dictated.

“We’re gathered here today because this is a once in a generation moment for the security of Europe, and we all need to step up,” Mr. Starmer told the assembled leaders as the summit opened, with Mr. Zelensky seated next to him. “Getting a good outcome for Ukraine is not just a matter of right and wrong, it’s vital for the security of every nation here and many others too.”

On Sunday morning, Mr. Starmer told the BBC that he, Mr. Zelensky and President Emmanuel Macron of France had agreed they “would work on a plan for stopping the fighting and then discuss that plan with the U.S.” Any peace agreement “is going to need a U.S. backstop,” Mr. Starmer added, saying that British and U.S. teams were discussing the idea."

To quote the Prime Minister when he corrected Trump, the aid was "gifted". The European Union as a whole has committed more than $100 billion in aid, not loans.
Yes, Europe has provided financial support to Ukraine, which includes loans, but also grants and in-kind assistance. Approximately 35% of the total aid from the EU and its member states has been in the form of loans, while the majority has been grants or other types of support.

It's about 3 years too late for a good outcome for Ukraine. Now they will have to settle for whatever they can get which isn't much.

Here's a question, would you like the U.S. to give Ukraine Security guarantee?

The little punk is thinking like a libtard. He thinks he's entitled to security guarantees from us and an endless supply of money and weapons.

With Ukraine loans are effectively grants....the continued existence of Ukraine in any form is now in doubt, and the Rump of Ukraine will not have the ability to pay loans, and even if they did there will to do so will not exist.

Looks good on paper

I agree, 100%. Zelensky lost the best deal he could have gotten. I can't venture a guess what happens to him next. You got any guesses?

There is a pretty big re-alignment taking place right now.

We have our contractual obligations through NATO (for now) - but we're no longer a friend to Europe, and I'm fairly sure they don't consider us as that.

Meanwhile, Russia is positioning to have a stronger relationship w/ us since Friday.

It's a pretty radical change.

He had no deal, all Trump is promising is a “deal,” no specifics, just meet with Putin and accepted a “deal,” Zelensky has experience on how Putin keeps promised “deals,” he wants some kind of guaranteed security

That is the error every President since Reagan has made, that we can negotiate a “stronger relationship” with Russia, and all of them learned quickly Putin isn’t interested any relationship with the U.S., he is going to do what he wants whenever he wants regardless of some imagined “stronger relationship”

Drawback here is that emboldens Russia and China further, they will now spread their influence worldwide, even with the EU, Taiwan has to be shitting bricks
