A new record: the most sea ice in Antarctica in 30 years

So fresh sea ice is formed by the cooling of the ocean as heat is lost into the atmosphere...

But Trenberth claims the oceans are trapping heat. The exact opposite.

Yes fresh sea ice is formed by the cooling of the sea surface. And it usually grows and melts seasonally. Even though there is more sea ice? I'm pretty sure the actual volume of the Antarctic glaciers are shrinking.

Heat lost into the atmosphere? Huh? I heard some heat actually even leaves the earth.

The oceans trap carbon and carbon traps heat, but since the ocean is very cold? I cannot see the heat staying in the ocean for very long. But the carbon would.
