A political science report from the future....

I am stuck in the 70's and 80's on music and like it that way.

Well, it's just that in the 80's music became so overproduced and digitized. It wasn't even the clean digitization they have today - it's like everything sounded like it came from a MIDI keyboard. Even the rock sound started to use a ridiculous amount of distortion, reverb, and other effects which really made the music sound a bit to crowded. I just don't like the overall sound of the decade.

I never really liked the "digital" sound at all, especially whenever they replace real intruments with digital effects. And I still think music sounds better if recorded in analog, even if you transfer it over to a digital medium later on.

The best music, I think, was made in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, whenever they just kept it simple.

the only valid effects processor is the compressor. everything else should be thrown out the window.

C'mon, President Bono would be awesome.

P.S.: I challenge anyone to name more than three bands in the last 30 years, who've put out a string of albums as good as Boy, War, The Unforgettable Fire, and Joshua Tree

Good in regards to what? Metallica, Megadeth, Black Sabbath have all sold more. Fear Factory, Disturbed, Mushroomhead, Iron Maiden are all far more talented. Venom, Motorhead, and Ozzy have all been more infulential.

And thats just metal. And its not all encompassing of those who would qualify either.

Uhhh....yeah, Megadeth has sold more albums than U2....riiiight.

Have another beer, kid!

:clink:

Just checked the numbers and unfortunatly Megadeth doesnt outsell U2. But they came pretty close, especially at an international level (heavy metal sells better then soft "rock" in alot of foreign markets).

Yeah, rap makes up 70% of global sales. Popularity doesn't equate to quality. Even I know that U2 is much higher quality than meangless, trite shit like Megadeth, and I don't even like U2!

U2 is just more meaningless trite crap. They battle with the Rolling Stones for the most albums ever, they'll win because they aren't quite so geriatric...

Hey I take notice to this...I like the Rolling Stones..albeit I suppose I could be classified as 'Geriatric'............. :( :cof1:

I checked wikipedia and corroborated against other sources.

Megadeth has sold about 20 million worldwide.

U2 has sold about 150 million worldwide.

I don't know how you characterize that as even remotely being close. :cof1:

I know what Wiki says. Note that Megadeth albums sales aren't NEARLY as in depth as U2's. And I say that they're close because...... U2 blows.

Have you even listened to Megadeth before water? Dave Mustaine is a musical genius.
