A trial without witnesses is unconstitutional.

Hello Flash,

Madison's fear was not impeachment but our elected officials making decisions based on the majority of the public. "Oligarchs" is clearly exaggerated hyperbole. The Senate (also designed by Madison) is more democratic today than before we had direct election of senators when the seats were bought and sold in corrupt dealings (think Rod Blagojevich and Obama's Senate seat).

The Republican Senate took an oath of allegiance to the Constitution, but instead displayed allegiance to the president.

“18 U.S. Code & 2071. Concealment, Removal or "Mutilation" generally...……………. Whoever willingly and unlawfully, conceals, removes, MUTILATES, obliterates, or destroys...……documents that are or have been filed with any clerk officer of any court officer in the United States or in any public office...or with any judicial or public officer of the United States (I wonder if a POTUS is considered an officer?) shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than 3 years

Section B.....shall forfeit office and be disqualified from holding any office under the Untied States.”

Nervous Nancy obliterated and destroyed a presidential document (the president is the highest officer in the land).

Lock her up.

No one is above the law, especially Nervous Nancy.

ac·quit·tal

/əˈkwid(ə)l/
noun
noun: acquittal; plural noun: acquittals
a judgment that a person is not guilty of the crime with which the person has been charged

so sorry

If the vote had been secret Things would have come out differently.

The vote to have witnesses also should have been secret.

Senators should not be considering the political ramifications of their votes.

These votes should be made base on the merit of the decision at hand.

You don't get to make the Senate rules, Snowflake, the SENATE does.

It was not a document, but a copy. That does not apply. Daffy Donald is well known for ripping up real documents. Do you really want to take that path?

Hello Flash,

The Republican Senate took an oath of allegiance to the Constitution, but instead displayed allegiance to the president.

Democrats took that same oath but showed allegiance to their party. Many wanted him impeached before the proceedings even began. It was very partisan on both sides--saying they were obligated to impeach was their constitutional duty is just partisan justification. Even if they truly believe he committed impeachable acts it was still partisan judgment on the part of each member.

Earl is spamming us again. He is doing dozens of the same post. It does nothing to push the debate forward, especially because it is based on a Neo-Nazi conspiracy site.

Doesn't mean it is a trial like a court trial you idiot. And show me where in the Constitution is says what you claim....

Do it, or admit you're making stuff up again...

No where in the definition of trial does it say witnesses. While there are minor differences depending on the source used, the definition of trial says an examination of the evidence. According to the Democrats in the House, they had overwhelming evidence. It was examined and Trump was acquitted.

We the People are the government!
The Senate is our public servants

WRONG. The Senate is simply the Senate. It has been given certain authorities to act as a Senate by the Constitution of the United States. The government is the Constitution of the United States. We are not a democracy. We are a federated republic.

Old news,we are a Trump dictatorship

Senators aren't determined by population.

Correct. They are elected by popular vote, but only two from each State. Frankly I think this is a mistake. I believe the 27th amendment should be repealed. It takes away a State government's representation in Congress, which is what the Senate originally was.

Which is a mistake, the popular vote or two from each State part?

The 27th amendment has to do with Congressional pay.
