Never said they could. However, my mother is 83 years old and doesn't expect your or anyone else to support her. She prepared when she was younger and the effort is paying off.

On the other hand, none of us mind paying more taxes to help pay for those in need.

BTW, they're not getting it from the government. They're getting back what the government mandated they contribute. The difference is the higher income earner gets a lower proportional distribution so the low income earner that didn't do any better can have more handed to him/her. What a crock of shit.

The government not returning at the same proportion as someone put in isn't charity. Charity involves you giving YOUR money without involving the government.
People who have done well don't use SS as a backup. A backup would mean they need it to make ends meet. It's an extra and there is a difference.
Prove you do well financially. Show your tax returns like you demand Trump shows his. If what you claim is true, start showing your charitable heart and personally doing for those you believe are in need. I'm not their ATM and it's not my place to provide to them what THEY refuse to provide themselves.
