About the green movement and global warming...

they are idling. no power if you turn it off.
they leak fuel mainly but sewage etc. not vast amounts and it usually does not show itself because the ships are usually moving.

The ship's engines are turned off. You don't run them to keep the power on.
A separate engine runs the generator. It is not idling. It is running normally.

How do you know they are leaking fuel?
Sewage from these ships is not a leak. It is fish food.

You are are worried about this around the city of L.A.?????????
Do you have ANY idea of the amount of sewage L.A. pumps into the ocean??? ALL of the wastewater of L.A. is discharged into the ocean, dumbass!

How about the large amounts of untreated waste from homeless camps washing into the ocean????

SoCal is beautiful but I cant see me heading back to the left coast ever.

Don't blame you. There are so few unpolluted places left in the U.S. anymore. We have mercury in all of the Great Lakes, for instance, as well as inland lakes. This little guide from the Michigan health dept. is chilling.

We have gorgeous lakes up here, lying in what looks like pristine forest. They're polluted not just with mercury (from dirty coal), but with the tailings from iron, copper, and nickel mining.

and pretty much exclusively crustacean food.
but raw sewage is more than just crap. Quite a lot of chemicals roll along with it.

Chemicals, hormones like estrogen and insulin, virus particles -- they're using waste water now to find pockets of Covid outbreaks.

Nope. The list of fish that eat shit is rather large, including any bottom fish, red snapper, carp, blenny, and a host of others.
Then of course, are the fish that eat the crabs, and even other fish.

Coming from a ship, it's just crap and water. It's even treated better than what the nearby city of L.A. does.

Mercury naturally occurs in any deep lake. It is not a pollutant.
Coal is carbon. Wash your hands after handling it. Meh.
Tailings is dirt. I guess you don't like dirt.

Nothing like living in your prison of fear. I see you enjoy living in fear.
