ADVIL DOESNT DO SHIT

Naproxen is also in the Advil family of drugs commonly known as ibuprofen a non steroidal anti-inflammatory. The thing with these drugs are that they are most effective when they are taken daily for inflammation related pain. If you want to relieve pain more quickly take two Advil and 2 Tylenol extra strength every 4 hrs. Pay attention to dosage times and amounts and check with your doctor.

yep...i was going to say this....liquid advil works fast and if i'm much pain, i will do both...note - a doctor told me of this but you can't do it all the time...and as ID suggested, contact your doctor and if you can, get vicodin and then sell me some :D

I was in constant pain for two years before my doctor sent me to a pain specialist. Less than 15 minutes in the specialist's office and he prescribed oxycontin. It's truly a blessing. There is no rhyme or reason why anyone has to be in pain today.

Out of all NSAIDs naproxin is the most potent, at least that I've found. BC powder is not an NSAID, it's a mix of aspirin and caffeine and takes roughly....2 minutes to work.

isn't oxycontin addicting? was that the drug rush was addicted to and used illegal means to obtain?

when i had surgery a few years ago, the doctor cut me off vicodin after two weeks and i was pissed because i was still in pain. he told me that vicodin is highly addictive and wouldn't help me any more....told me to deal with the pain, use tylonol and advil if it hurts that bad, but to overuse pain meds, doesn't help the pain, rather, it prolongs it. i stopped, dealt with the pain and got better.

until we can create something that is no addictive in a harmful way, we must be in pain, because addiction is far, far worse. IMO.

if I had to choose between a life of real physical pain or a life of blissful addiction I would snap up that addition life in a heartbeat.

It all depends on what you have though.

yes. it can be pretty addicting, it's an opiate. That said I probably had 50-70 post surgery a few years back and I never got or felt like I was addicted, any more so than cheeseburger level.

I was so not addicted I kept a few left over ones just in case I was in future pain. And they sat their for a long time until recently

I think the people that become addicted are the ones that straight up abuse it from the start.

Mixing full strength Advil and Tylenol really isn't that healthy. It's definitely not something that should be done frequently.

Acetaminophen causes 3x as many liver failures as all other drugs combined. It causes more liver failures than alcohol. Even recommended doses have been known to cause liver failure. Every four hours is for a maximum of two weeks. Longer than that, it's recommended for, at most, every eight hours. Which is certainly a problem for people with chronic pain, because it certainly doesn't last eight hours. It doesn't even seem to last four.

I will probably be in seattle early julyish. But I dont know for how long. Sometimes I am only there a day or so and will go to the space needle, waste some time, then go to elliots on the pier and I am on my way home

You should just grab an unscheduled opiate research chemical. That'll be great until you take half a milligram too much one day and die.

Because it's one of the most addictive substances known to man.

We found the cure to pain in the 1800's, it's just the life ruining side effects are kinda harsh.

It all depends on what you have though.

If you have chronic pain so bad that you need to be on opiates all of the time anyway, I don't really think addiction is much of a concern. As long as you don't start taking the entire bottle in 10 days or so. Which is what often ends up happening.

The doctors differentiate between addiction and physical dependence. One does acquire a physical dependence and withdrawal must be slow. That's why oxycontin is used for chronic pain or given for very short periods.

Addiction results from taking more than necessary to stop the pain. It's the same principal with alcohol. If one is feeling relaxed and happy then alcohol will affect them more than someone who is in pain or has to concentrate. The pain counteracts the euphoric effect.

In the case of chronic pain even if a physical dependence develops it's no different than a diabetic taking insulin. They depend on the insulin and their body will react if stopped.

A misconception about addiction is a person will require more and more of a drug. If that was the case if a person started smoking cigarettes at 18 by the time they were 40 they would be smoking 10 packs a day. HA!
