as for "flip flop"... that crap is in the leftists rules of Ukraine I wrote earlier. Being responsible with money is not "flip flop"... We do not need to drop so many bags of money there without a target for it that we lose track of where half of the money goes and we are just hoping it hits the right pockets. The Muhajadeen lost the whole country to the USSR. They were just able to mount a sustained insurgency from the back country.

That is not even close to being analogous to the conventional war in Ukraine between two standing armies

So you just proved the Muhajadeen effectively used the military aid they got from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and United States - they didn't corruptly blow the money on swimming pools and sports cars in any large way, since they were able to mount an effective insurgency.

Let's get to the real question: Do you support Trump freezing military aid to Ukraine? Do you support Trump in saying Ukraine started the war?

I can't speak for Damo, but as for myself, I've never been "pro-Ukraine" or even "pro-Russia" for that matter. It's a stupid war that should have never happened (and wouldn't've happened under Trump) and now Russia is going to end up with more land because of it.

Russia gets more land / Ukraine loses land.
Many young Russians and Ukrainians are now dead.
Corrupt politicians in Ukraine and the USA now have a bunch of money in their grubby pockets.
USA taxpayers got fleeced.

Yet, they won. The USSR left and we didn't have to throw Eleventy Jillion Dollars at them and hope it hit the right pockets. We did that one cheap.

I already said that I believed it would be a pause and that it would be short. Now that Trump is already talking about it ending and Ukraine has committed to cease fires that they were rejecting before do you continue to support the status quo in Ukraine or do you think we should actively work towards peace?

All of the American Stupid is applauding Trump and the deal Ukrane will eventually take....but folks, Ukrane is nothing but rubbish and dust...have you any idea the amount of money this nation's tax payers will have to spend just to get this 350billion Trump is talking about taking? There's no conveyor belt from Ukrane to the states, we're talking years and then some....I can't believe how dumb motherfuckers are in this country, just dumb and stupid.

Well, we could just throw a few hundred billion more there and get nothing in return like you seem to "plan"... or we can have interests in the nation, give them a reason to trust the US will continue to support them, and get something in return creating the interest showing why we will support them.

I prefer the latter.

I can't speak for Earl, but as for myself, I've never wanted a trade war with Canada (or anybody else). However, I don't wish for other countries to be economically bending me over furniture either.

If a "trade war" is required in order to spank the bottoms of these other countries and get them to respect and fairly trade with this nation once again, then so be it. They will eventually cave because they need us more than we need them. For instance, Canada can't continue onward with anywhere near their current standard of living without us.

Sure, people went out and traveled the world and brought things back,
but that's not like importing things on a daily basis for staples.

We'll find out. Based on everything we're hearing, prices will go up for many things that Americans buy if these tariffs stay in place.

Another poster correctly pointed out to me yesterday that risks are taken in business that sometimes pay off big, and that could apply here. But it's definitely a gamble, and at minimum, we're likely to see higher prices and a bear market (at best) for quite awhile.
