American Jews have feared this kind of attack for years,

All attacks on synagogues in America in the past few years have been perpetrated by the right wing now with trump they have become more embolden

Jews in the United States and elsewhere are also having difficult discussions about the tensions between the core Jewish value of helping strangers in need -- a tenet heartbreakingly taught in Saturday's Torah readings -- and the need to keep their communities safe from anti-Semites and others with violent intentions.

Even before the attack – believed to be the deadliest in U.S. history targeting American Jews – violence and harassment of Jewish people and institutions was rising sharply, coinciding with a moment when American politics has become sharply divided.

There were at least 1,986 such incidents motivated by anti-Jewish bias – including physical assaults, vandalism and attacks on Jewish institutions – in 2017, a 57 percent spike in incidents over the year before, according to the Anti-Defamation League, a group that tracks and fights anti-Semitism.

The ADL also published a report this month that found an alarming increase in the amount of anti-Semitic content on social media in the lead-up to next month’s midterm elections.

Prior to the election of President Donald Trump, anti-Semitic harassment and attacks were rare and unexpected, even for Jewish Americans who were prominently situated in the public eye,” authors Samuel Woolley and Katie Joseff wrote.

“Following his election, anti-Semitism has become normalized and harassment is a daily occurrence. The harassment, deeply rooted in age-old conspiracies such as the New World Order, which alleges that an evil cabal of Jewish people have taken autocratic control of the globe, and Holocaust imagery – faces placed inside Nazi concentration camp ovens or stretched on lampshades – shows no signs of abating.”

After talking with Jewish friends this past week I realized that they arevery concerned about this kind of attack.

I just didn't realize how often it happened. You'd think Americans are more civilized than that..

Whatever happened to live and let live? Another person's religion or sexual orientation doesn't impact my life..

In New York City, a multifaith group that weekend talked about the importance of collaborating across religious and denominational lines. In Los Angeles, three synagogues came together for a service that featured music from a Syrian Jewish musician and dinner provided by a Syrian refugee family. In Kansas, synagogue leaders encouraged the gathering there to support political candidates "who share our values of welcoming the stranger and treating everyone with fairness and compassion."

Some of my Jewish friends invite Muslims, Christians and atheists to holiday dinners.. Its great.

Imaginary "Jewish friends", crookstress? :rofl2:

Did you know there were over 7,000 ant-Semitic attacks during Obama's Reign of Error?

Trump is personally blamed for “unleashing” antisemitism. This feeds a growing narrative about a rise in antisemitism.

There are more than nineteen million results in Google relating to “Trump antisemitism,” including the headline “Report: Trump mulling axing anti-Semitism envoy as part of budget plan,” and “Trump suggests Jewish community is spreading antisemitic threats.”

However, as Mark Oppenheimer at The Washington Post notes, “There is no good statistical evidence that Americans have grown more antisemitic".

Let’s look at Barack Obama’s presidency.

The years 2009-2015, for which we have data, are untainted by the alleged rise in attacks from Trump supporters.

There were 1,211 antisemitic incidents in Obama’s first year in office. This was after four straight years of declining antisemitism. For instance, in 2008, there were 1,352 incidents. Attacks had peaked in 2004 with 1,821.

When we tally the total number of incidents between 2009 and 2015, the overall number of attacks reaches more than 7,000.

However, the number of assaults increased, almost doubling during the Obama administration.

Overall, there was an average of 84 incidents a month under the Obama administration.

Let’s step back for a moment. The media haven’t been telling us there is a slight increase under Trump; the narrative has been that there is an antisemitic wave sweeping the US.

So why are headlines today claiming a “pandemic” of antisemitism in the US?

Do you just not care about antisemitism that comes from the left? Do politics trump faith to you?

This isn't totally new. The rednecks in the south attacked the Jews for supporting the civil rights movement in the 50's and 60's. Synagogues were bombed.

The Temple in Atlanta was the fourth southern synagogue to be bombed in little more than a year.

I live in Atlanta.. and the Jewish community here is tremendously successful.. as well as generous.. They provide all sorts of services from free dental to counciling to food banks, toy drives, support for the arts, etc to ALL faiths.. I am blown away by their civic contributions.

So you say. But you also said that gas is $5 @ gallon in NYC, and you claimed to be a Saudi princess before you were arrested and confined to a mental institution.

You are a moron. I'm from Alabama and have never claimed to be a Saudi princess.

Farrakhan speaks to very few people and most of them do not hate like he does. Trump speaks to the nation. He speaks at rallies nearly every day. He has the bully pulpit, which he uses to bully. You can find a low level power hater if you look hard enough and if you are Legion, you can convince yourself that they are the same. But the president of the US reaches the whole world. He has real power to energize those who hate like he does. Trump is making America a more dangerous place , especially for minorities. Trump sanctions anger and hate.

Elsewhere in the world the anti-semitism among Muslims is 2 to 4 times higher than the rest of the population. I wonder if they will be denounced? I guess we'll find out.

Not only that, Jewish Americans made certain their kids are educated. While white southern conservative rednecks are taking their kids to MMA cage fighting on school nights, the Jewish kids are getting ready for their Advanced Placement classes. While the redneck kids are getting tattoos, the Jewish kids are filling out their applications to college.

You kind of see the difference?

vs.

The rednecks hate the Jews because they know they are inferior to them.

Some of my Jewish friends invite Muslims, Christians and atheists to holiday dinners.. Its great.

Try that with roasted pork and see who chooses to go vegetarian that meal and who flips the table over and stabs you with the carving knife.
