"Republicans thrown on defensive after study shows tax hike'

"Republicans are on the defensive after a new analysis shows some middle-income people would see tax increases under their plan to rewrite the tax code."

"While most taxpayers — 61 percent — would see their taxes fall in the next two years, 20 percent would pay higher taxes by 2027, the Joint Committee on Taxation said Tuesday. Forty-six percent that year would get a tax cut while 34 percent would see only minimal changes in their tax bills, with breaks of less than $100."

"The report found widely varying outcomes within individual income groups. By 2027, for example, about 23 percent of those earning between $50,000 and $75,000 would see a tax increase."

Keep in mind the "Joint Committee on Taxation is controlled by the majority party in Congress, can't imagine what happens when less partisan studies are completed

Also, question dropped, how will they pay for it.

Also, question dropped, how will they pay for it.

Why would anyone "PAY FOR" something they are yet to take? The government owns nothing, everything it has it takes under threat of fine or imprisonment. Not paying taxes is not a LOSS nor does the lack of taxation have to be paid for. All the government needs to do is place itself on a budget just like the people they steal the money from in the first place. That's like declaring that someone has to pay for the lack of funds a bank robber did not get because he did not get to rob a bank this week.

What you really mean is WHO THE HELL IS GOING TO PAY FOR ALL THE FREE SHIT THAT LIBERALISM HAS PROMISED ME?

LIBERALISM IS IN DEBT BECAUSE NOT ONLY HAS IT SPENT THE MONEY TAKEN FROM THE PEOPLE IT HAS PLACED ALMOST 20 TRILLION ON THE LIBERAL CREDIT CARD WITH THE PEOPLES NAME ON IT.

There is something terribly wrong when any government in the world collects 8 Trillion dollars annually (state, local and federal taxes) and still holds it hat in its hand and begs, "MORE SOUP PLEASE....."

The US does not have a tax problem it has a spending problem as the liberals have figured out all they need do is "SIGN FOR IT....." But some day the piper must be paid. Keynesian Economics did not work when FDR was in control with a Roosevelt Court and it still don't work today. Why? Its takes a stupid person to even think that someone or a nation can borrow and spend its way out of debt and into prosperity.

The PEOPLE are far better at spending their own earned income than BIG BROTHER who takes it and purchases votes with it by spending the money on things that's absolutely not needed. ITS CALLED PORK SPENDING. What do they do with billions of the peoples tax monies? Example Congress allows its employees to spend money on things like IPODS, 13000 dollar steak dinners, gambling, exotic dancers, etc., the US government once spent 2.6 million dollars training training "Chinese prostitutes" how to drink more responsible when working."

HOW ARE THEY GOING TO PAY FOR IT INDEED. Simply cut the waste and fraud by 10%.

If there is a spending problem, why hasn't the republican Congress done something about it? These are your people, the ones you elected, yet they do nothing.

The House and Senate — I think we need to do even more to provide a tax cut, not just tax reform, but a tax cut for every American,” said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Democratic critics of the plan are seizing on the findings, while moderate Democrats whom Republicans want to work with are expressing caution.

he JCT said that only 8 percent of taxpayers would pay more in 2019 under the plan.

What’s more, Republicans said the legislation will be massaged as it makes its way through Congress.

“There’s definitely going to be changes,” said Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.), who sits on the House’s tax-writing committee. “We’ve got somewhat of a final product, but it’s quite awhile before we have a final, final product.”

“It’s a nine-inning game — we’re in the third,” he sa
