Another baffling story behind the Left's ongoing love affair with radical Islam

Regarding the Levant thing: For some odd ball reason Obama is anal about using 'ISL' instead of ISIS like everyone else. But ISL territory is bigger than ISIS caliphate.

Which, if you're concerned about giving ISIS propaganda help, why does he use the term that signifies the expanded territory? It makes no sense. Particularly, in light of their ridiculous refusal to utter 'Radical Islam'.

Maybe one of Obama's JPP apologists can answer that.

There's nothing to answer because it's meaningless drivel dreamed up by con Obama haters. It is amusing though, that Obama's verbiage is what cons are reduced to criticizing.

with due respect: the debate is Obama using a more expansive term for IS ( ISIL instead of ISIS) while marginalizing the entire concept
of ISIS ( or ISIL) as part of Islam..that's a major disconnect

The levant is an older term, and I think (?) using that is meant to impart more legitimacy to ISIS's goals as an Islamic State.

Exactly. And they have no good answer for it.

Rush says it's because Obama's throwing a sneaky insult to Israel.

their heads are still spinning from today.
Obama doesn't care about clarity, the press is uninterested ( as usual)

How much do you really know?

Just a sincere question. Have you studied this stuff for awhile, in depth? Or do you just read some articles like everyone else here?

what "stuff?"
I'm as informed as anyone who takes the time to study anything. I've followed politics for more then 50 years
and I trust my judgment - but always open for debate.

Know thy enemy. Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

You don't think it makes a difference to understand Iran?
what's to understand? hegemonic supporter of state terrorism
convenient part of Russian sphere in Syria and possibly further..

I think we all understand the government/theocracy ?

So, you're just like the rest of us - but you're putting yourself forth as some kind of expert on the terminology and what it means in extremist circles.

where did I claim to be an expert? But I have done extensive studies on terrorism/counter-terrorism/counter insurgency. I've got a good understanding of Islam, but not more than anyone else who takes the time
to look at it in an organized manner
- I certainly am not an expert or have any degrees. I've given you a lot of links too - did you read them?

Read some foreign policy by real experts not "articles".
If you want to know this stuff it's all available on the internet - same place I use. RAND, Council on Foreign Affairs

Put some study time into it.. did you ever look into Salafi jihad?.
