Another Republican Sex Fiend

My favorite part is where he "asked for and received" forgiveness from God. You know, I know that people pray for forgiveness, but I had no idea that God gets back to you with a decision. Interesting.

WASHINGTON — Sen. David Vitter, R-La., apologized Monday night for "a very serious sin in my past" after his telephone number appeared among those associated with an escort service operated by the so-called "D.C. Madam."

Vitter's spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in the statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there _ with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

The statement containing Vitter's apology said his telephone number was on old phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates before he ran for the Senate.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey was accused in federal court of racketeering by running a prostitution ring that netted more than $2 million over 13 years, beginning in 1993. She contends, however, that her escort service, Pamela Martin and Associates, was a legitimate business.

Vitter, 46, a Republican in his first Senate term, was elected to the Senate in 2004. He represented Louisiana's 1st Congressional District in the House from 1999 to 2004.

Vitter and his wife, Wendy, live in Metairie, La., with their four children.

Godless Dems never ask for forgiveness.

I am not technically a dem, but I do ask for forgiveness from other humans when I mess up.
Cons ptetty much only ask forgiveness from God and seldom from the humans they have screwed.

(see other thread why can't we get along.)

This one seems to have asked from the ones that mattered.

Yes but, after being caught, and we really don't know if his wife has forgiven him. He's not going to say, well I asked my wife for forgiveness and she told me she wants me dead.

Interesting addendum to the story; they have an interview with his wife from the year 2000 up. She was asked if she would "stand by her man" like Hillary did if he cheated on her. She said she is more Lorena Bobbit than Hillary Clinton, and if it happened, she'd be "leaving with something and it wouldn't be alimony".

Seriously.

This bit of stereotyping is brought to you by the same poster who, in another thread, spoke of the "sociologically stupid" humans and how we tend to separate ourselves into groups and call the other groups "evil".

Once more. The story suggests that he spoke of already received forgiveness. The assumption tends to be toward the "worst" because people love to revel in schadenfruede. It doesn't mean that the assumption is correct.

I have no idea about the guy, don't really care either. I'm fascinated by the schadenfruede effect though.

I started off in sarcasm, but now I'm really into the whole, "Look! They are bad!" thing.

Yes, it's more likely that he is telling the 100% truth, than that the woman who said basically that she would cut off his penis if he ever cheated, and stated so publically, wouldn't be so quick to forgive him.

Politicians usually tell the whole truth when they're caught with another woman. In fact, men in general are known for it.

And this guy has proof of forgiveness, or are we just supposed to take the word of a proven liar/hypocrite ?

We are supposed to assume he is bad instead. Fantastic. One can't assume that a person dealt with their personal life in a personal setting, one can only assume the worst. Especially if they are part of another social group...

Hmmm... It seems you are right there uscit. We can't get along because we divide ourselves into those groups and believe anybody not in our own group is "bad".

And what sort of proof do you have that he lied?

This assumes that you know when he told her, that it was "quickly", and that she can't come right out and say, "BS! He better not fall asleep!"

Noooo...I wouldn't believe a democratic male in this situation either.

The whole thing is laughable. You'd have to be very naive to buy this, and the fact remains he is a married man who used a prostitute. I think men who use prostitutes hate women. I don't care what party they're from.

Is that ok with you?

LOL.

Sure. I'm just trying to figure out exactly where this goes.

Man, if I ran a prostitute ring and wanted to get some people... All it would take is paying the phone company a bit for some "unlisted" numbers.

:D

P.S. I am not saying that is what happened here, clearly the 'gentleman' in question admits to visiting a prostitute.

What I "assume" is that people in general, when they have amassed a certain social standing along with a certain level of wealth, are not so quick to divorce. And even if they are going to divorce downt he road, the woman prefers to leave with a little dignity. Now, I question how much dignity a woman who claims she would cut off a man's penis has in the first place, but I do not know her. We may have different definitions of the word. I personally, would never make such a statement.
