Another Republican Sex Fiend

Vitter Flashback: Clinton should resign. Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) first got his start in Congress after replacing former Rep. Bob Livingston (R-LA), who “abruptly resigned after disclosures of numerous affairs” in 1998. At the time, Vitter argued that an extramarital affair was grounds for resignation:

“I think Livingston’s stepping down makes a very powerful argument that Clinton should resign as well and move beyond this mess,” he said. [Atlanta Journal and Constitution, 12/20/98]

A lie of ommission is still a lie.

I guarantee you that while this guy was banging prostitutes, he wasn't running home to his wife to tell her what he did. He hid it from her. At least, for a while.
You are taking me seriously again... don't keep doing that.

LOL. I can't feign surprise anymore.

Another partisan witch-hunt

My favorite part is where he "asked for and received" forgiveness from God. You know, I know that people pray for forgiveness, but I had no idea that God gets back to you with a decision. Interesting.

WASHINGTON — Sen. David Vitter, R-La., apologized Monday night for "a very serious sin in my past" after his telephone number appeared among those associated with an escort service operated by the so-called "D.C. Madam."

Vitter's spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in the statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there _ with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

The statement containing Vitter's apology said his telephone number was on old phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates before he ran for the Senate.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey was accused in federal court of racketeering by running a prostitution ring that netted more than $2 million over 13 years, beginning in 1993. She contends, however, that her escort service, Pamela Martin and Associates, was a legitimate business.

Vitter, 46, a Republican in his first Senate term, was elected to the Senate in 2004. He represented Louisiana's 1st Congressional District in the House from 1999 to 2004.

Vitter and his wife, Wendy, live in Metairie, La., with their four children.

I have never frelt the need to use the services of a prostitute. however it isn't called the oldest proffession without reason.

So I find it rather hypocritical to be calling it "Another Republican Sex Fiend "

SEX FIEND???? Hardly-- It is really "much ado about (nearly) Nothing."

I'm sorry Doniston. I'll try and do better with my titles.

I just saw the madam, or whatever, on MSNBC, and she actually said that Vitter probably loves his wife, after all this business is not all about "the sex" Sometimes you "need somebody to talk to".

I think that if a guy I was involved with went to a prostitute, I'd rather hear it was for the sex, than that it was for the conversations he was able to have with her. I mean, either way he'd be out on his ass, but it's really hard to say which is the bigger insult here.

I love this story, I don't think it's going away either. I bet there are some journalists on that list too.
