You obviously haven't been paying attention. The tradition of candy for kids is not about remembering loved ones. It's about celebrating harvest home, and a fun activity for the kids.

Maybe for Memorial day we can start a new tradition and throw lollypops on everyones lawn and instead of showing the Sands of iwa jima on tv they can show Willy wonka movies.

You doubt you even bother to remember anyone on memorial day. To you it's probably just celebrating the 'official' beginning of summer.
