Anthony Bourdain

Republic of the Congo International Travel Information

Political violence and civil unrest may occur. In the past, political demonstrations have led to armed clashes, deaths, and injuries. The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens outside of Brazzaville and Pointe Noire. Official travel outside Brazzaville must be approved by the Embassy on a case-by-case basis. The Republic of Congo’s borders remain porous, particularly with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Central African Republic; cross-border crime and armed activity may occur.

Roadblocks: Armed soldiers or national police may conduct vehicle searches and check passengers for identity papers. These roadblocks often are poorly marked, and local authorities may target foreigners to solicit bribes.

I am convinced Bourdain had state department connections to help the crew get in and out without any problems.

While I don't recommend it, even the Congo is accessible to tourists...

I don't think Egypt is the safest place either but, I have considered a trip to Siwa Oasis...

Like Mexico, dangerous countries have armed military guarding the perimeter of tourist resorts. Bourdain's style was to drive the entire crew out to where the locals live. There were a few times he was met with confrontation and visibly shaken. Somehow things always worked out for him. Either he's lucky or he had a number he could call to get him out of a jam.

I'd say more luck than anything. The US State department is about as useless as tits on a rattlesnake when it comes to these things. Remember Benghazi?

Benghazi is where Hillary and the CIA were trafficking weapons into Syria. Bourdain was the perfect CIA asset to exchange information. The guy could charm the rattle off a rattlesnake.

I stopped a few minutes in...I have no need to listen to someone who claims that Tony has just gotten married, when not only is that not true he never divorced Ottavia.

Alex Jones is hard to listen to. He rambles, repeats and raves.
The gist is that Bourdain knew too much and was becoming too vocal.

Says the guy who starts with easy to debunk nonsense about Bourdain's marital status, which he uses to claim that his life was going great...which is also nonsense.

Alex Jones has been around a long time and has been right about a lot of things. I remember when he snuck into Bohemian Grove and filmed those deviants. That was some good stuff.
