You seem to be confusing tolerance with agreement. If a person does something stupid, of course we're going to criticize them, but that doesn't mean we won't tolerate them. I think anyone who votes against their own interests is a moron, but I wouldn't try to take away their rights, like Conservatives do.

I know of no country that had freedom and rights before it became socialist or communist. Authoritarian and totalitarian governments are the same no matter the ideology.

Nazi Germany (and maybe Italy?) became worse but that was due more to dictatorial authoritarianism rather then any ideology.
