I don't have a problems with firearms as such.

It's NRA members, Trumpanzees, and their ilk that should be rounded up.

I'm a life member of the NRA, start "rounding us up."

Oh, by the way, the 40-X is a damn nice rifle, I almost
bought one until I trued the bolt, added an adjustable
trigger and worked up an accurate load using the 55
grain Nosler ballistic tip in my Model 70 .220 Swift (it's
as old as you are) and hitting a groundhog at 780 yd,
I figured that was accurate enough so I spent that
money on an M1-A.
