are we all enemy combatants now?

it's as clear as mud...........meaning that you are wrong. only a complete and utter moron would believe that the founding fathers would create a government that could do anything it wants to after having won independence from a government that could do whatever it wanted to.

Again you are proudly clueless. https://www.supremecourt.gov/about/constitutional.aspx The founder wanted the US to continue. They were prescient enough to realize that could not predict the problems of the future so worked a way to adapt to time and change. The assumption that it results in them just doing what they want has been proven wrong for 250 years.

S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act bill, which will be on the Senate floor on Monday

The bill was drafted in secret by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and passed in a closed-door committee meeting, without even a single hearing.

The Senate will be voting on a bill that will direct American military resources not at an enemy shooting at our military in a war zone, but at American citizens and other civilians far from any battlefield — even people in the United States itself.

In support of this harmful bill, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained that the bill will “basically say in law for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield” and people can be imprisoned without charge or trial “American citizen or not.” Another supporter, Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) also declared that the bill is needed because “America is part of the battlefield.”

Reality check:

there were zero federal gun control laws until the 1930s. why is that? It is because, at that time, everyone KNEW, KNEW, that the 2nd Amendment prohibited the government from enacting them........until the roosevelt administration came up with ways to expand the commerce clause beyond it's intended restriction.......THAT is doing what they want, not what they are limited in doing.

I repeat, since you are clearly unwilling to acknowledge your failures, that the founding fathers did NOT create a limited government and then hand the power to define those limits to that very federal government.
