LOL, there is movie called "Idiocracy" and the premise is that 1000s of years from now all the smart people are gone and the only people left are stupid because they tend to breed like rabbits. In the montage in the beginning they show throw the years a couple that represents the died out "smart" gene saying things, like, well we should focus on our careers first and get situated......, who would even considering having a kid in this bearish market (cut to trailor home and 10 kids), and then by the time they are ready to have a kid the couple is too old.

But yes. I know what you're saying. You'd hope that there would be some kind of requirement for parents other than libi dos
 
I hate blockbuster. They are dishonest in their marketing like with the no late fees thing. I used to go there but if you want anything other than a new release you can't get it in the stores.

We love it. Especially like on a Saturday night when you've forgoten to mail in your old movies you can just trade them in for new ones. We haven't had any problems with them lately.
 
This is all caused by adults. We are not doing our jobs as parents. weseem to expect the world to raise our children for us. we are too busy making money to buy them stuff to properly raise them.
Our sef esteem largly is based on posessions now not true self worth.

The sad thing is that I can see this as coming to pass. My wife and I got married late because we both thought we needed to establish ourselves before trying to raise a family. At 36 we had a boy, he'll be 4 next month, and we have decided that he is going to be the only one. We're too old and he works us to death.:) He will have the advantage of being smart though. He can add and spell quite a bit right now.
 
My wife always says she wants to have scores of kids and tells me the world needs more people like us. I always tell her no way unless I was a millionaire or something.

Not that they don't deserved to be punished, but I don't think jail or juvie is right place to curtail this type of behaviour. I hope the judge won't lock them up. I think sentencing them to 100 hours of community service at the free clinic, HIV support groups or something along those lines is in order and will benefit them much more in the long run. But it is Louisiana, who knows what will happen to them.

True, so very true, but it isn't that they are making money to buy "stuff" in this case they are probably holding down two jobs just to live. I believe this happened in one of the poor sections of LA.

I am surrounded by the poor. and many are in thas trap as well. They have a wide screen TV , DirectTV and a nice vehicle, eat out a lot, etc And the children just run around untrained/supervised. Many are in jail before 16.....
Many of the "poor" are in the same possesion = self esteem trap as the better off people, just at a lower level.
But with that said there are truely poor out there where both parents do have to work to make ends meet.

This is just uncomprehendable to me.... What were these kids thinking? What little pride do they have in oneself? I just can't understand things like this even if it were to occur in a college classroom, let alone the classroom of 5th graders...

Thank goodness your neice wasn't a witness to it, which she could have been....then you would have been forced to have that discussion with her a bit earlier than it should have been.

Regardless, where are the PARENTS of these kids and what kind of morals and self respect have they neglected to teach their children?
