He publishes information that others leak to him. People like Private Manning leak the information. Assange publishes it.

Again, what's the principled distinction between Assange and a reporter that publishes classified information? I don't see it.

I don't know how many people are really all that supportive of censoring Mr. Assange's publication privileges. Most of us just don't like him, because he is a fucking lowlife bastard with a bad agenda. Furthermore, since Assange demonstrates a total lack of character, I am going to root for a conviction in Sweden regarding the rape charges, as are many.

Furthermore, I'm a little disgusted with the PFC who leaked documents that wound up in Assange's possession, and hope the Army comes down on the fucking traitor hard. Being in the military might make me a little more offended at the private, and he's not the first PFC to commit treason since I first signed up (Padilla was a National Guardsman, I believe).

BTW, since you pretended to miss it, the OP was ironic, because, get this, stuff got leaked about the master leaker, himself. Get it?!!?

That's all well and good, but the precedent that someone publishing classified information, such as a reporter, is fair game for government reprisals by leaking private information about the reporter doesn't sit well with me. I could care less about Assange personally.

Manning is being dealt with quite harshly as we speak, notwithstanding that he hasn't been convicted of anything as of yet.

I understand the facial appeal of the OP, but it doesn't stand cursory analysis. Assange isn't a leaker. He's a publisher.

like i said, he gives the information to real reporters...if we accept your analysis, any joe with a website is not a reporter....

he knows he is a leaker, hence wikiLEAKS....leaks nigel, he put leaks right in the name of his website, he fully understands and believes he is leaking information

HUMAN rights groups said today they've asked WikiLeaks to censor secret files on the Afghanistan war to protect civilians who've worked alongside the US and other foreign forces from reprisals.
The Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission, Amnesty International and three other groups have sent a series of emails to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange calling for the names of Afghan civilians to be removed from the 77,000 classified military documents published by the online whistle-blower last month.

Nader Nadery, of the commission, said the groups want the names removed from files already released, and from any documents disclosed in the future.

"There was no consideration about civilian lives," Mr Nadery said, noting a rise in assassinations of Afghan civilians seen as government collaborators.

I never said he was just like any other reporter. I said I see no principled distinction between Assange and other reporters that publish classified information that would justify government reprisals. And I still don't see it.

People leak information to them. Wikileaks publishes the leaked information. It really isn't a difficult concept to grasp.

Let me ask you this: who leaked the information published about Assange, the Guardian and the press that reported on it or the person(s) who supplied the information to the press?

"Mass" means "high quantity." Try it in context and see how it fits. And I'm not sure what there is to ignore about its name. The name is Wikileaks because they publish leaked information, masses of it.

Now if you would be so kind as to answer the rather simple question, I'd appreciate it.
