Biden has got to go.

Link of the National Debt for Presidents over the past 30 years? LOL

Okay!

US Debt by President: By Dollar and Percentage

Disagree. If they had wanted Bernie they would have voted for Bernie. The election in 2024 won't be a free for all. It will be an election decided by state legislatures, not the voters.
Free-for-all means there is no incumbent just like 2000, 2008 and 2016.

Agree

Obama is an experienced and smart politician. I often wondered if he didn't make Biden his running mate to make himself look better no matter what mistakes he might have made. LOL

Now, maybe….not in 2008. He was a community organizer, a state senator and the junior senator from Illinois IIRC.

IMO, Biden was added to the ticket to bolster Obama’s relative inexperience on the national stage.

Ah, okay. I don't think this election will be like any other we've had. There is a reason Republican legislatures are taking power away from election officials and taking for themselves. And that reason is not voter fraud, since it doesn't exist.

Why are there no arrests?

There’s certainly a lot of bullshit flying, mostly from the right side of the room. Yes, the attack on democracy by disenfranchising Americans is very disturbing. We certainly do get the government we deserve.

When 40% of Americans don’t even bother to vote and the extremists are taking over the two major parties, American freedom is going to suffer.

To the far left Democrat Socialist loons, Making America Great Again is extremist and an attack on democracy.

That’s why they are called loons.

Yep. Democrats just can't help but get in their own way. Why not just pass a bill codifying Roe? Why go further? It was just fucking stupid. They could have said 'see, Republicans won't even vote to leave Roe in place'. But instead, they do this sweeping bill, and the Republicans use it to hammer them on late term abortion. Because progressives hold too much sway and aren't patient. Hubert Humphrey waited two decades to get Civil Rights passed. They want everything to happen right now, and they think the intellectual argument sways voters. It doesn't. What sways voters is anger, fear and the kitchen table. Meanwhile, Republicans are totally overreaching. But as I said, my belief is that it doesn't matter, because Republican states are going to let their legislatures pick the winners. I think voting as we know it is a thing of the past now.

Did you know that our oil companies hold thousands upon thousands of leases that they are not using, except to defray taxes? So Biden canceled new off-shore leases. He did (and can do) nothing about the thousands of leases already in the hands of the petroleum corporations, that are not being utilized. Why aren't they using them? Because it's far more profitable to rake in the current high profits than it is to risk expensive and often pointless drilling on those leases.

Biden is the biggest anti-oil presidents we have ever had. Yes the oil companies have leases they aren't using. But there may or may not be oil on those leases. It is expensive to verify a lease has oil and if the quantity is large enough to make drilling operations profitable. Biden has closed the most probable oil containing leases.

Well said and very true, but sadly Regressives refuse to understand how the oil business actually works.

None of us know if the withdrawn leases would be profitable or not. As you said, it's expensive to verify via exploratory drilling, so that's why they don't do it on the lease they already hold. What's the point of offering NEW leases when current ones aren't being uitlized? It's just a RW talking point that has zero meaning in the real world.

As for Biden being anti-oil, I'm glad that he is pro-renewables. Those are our future. If we want one, that is.

For once I agree with you, they can't resist any opportunity to stick it to the GOP.

High gas prices, record inflation with no end in sight. He must be a one term president.

I've been happy with him, so far. He inherited a country that was a basket case. Even the job creation that showed up after the COVID lockdowns ended had petered out, and we'd lost jobs in December 2020. Then Biden took the helm and we've had strong job creation every month since then. And in 2021 we had the best year for GDP growth in almost four decades, even after discounting for the fairly high inflation rate. And, amazingly, that happened even as we were bringing deficits down, after the orgy of deficit spending in Trump's last year. We also got out of Afghanistan, at long last, and Biden pushed through a big infrastructure bill after decades of presidents promising to do that and failing to deliver. Yes, as with most advanced countries, we're struggling with high inflation right now, as a result of pandemic supply chain disruptions, Russia-related oil shocks, and a few years of central banks flooding the markets with money. But no economic period is perfect. This one looks better than I was expecting, and certainly much better than what we were suffering before Biden took office.

this isn't rocket science.......if the accumulated national debt when he took office was around $10T (the accumulation of all previous presidencies) and the accumulated national debt when he left office was around $20T, then he doubled it......

Yes very true, sadly some people are incapable of analysing any situation objectively.

Biden administration cancels Alaska oil and gas lease sale

When President Trump was in office, there was no out of control inflation, crime, borders.

No food shortages either.

No war in the Ukraine either.

We were energy independent too.

Now in terms of the oil companies making the same percentage profits as always, that is BS.

its one thing to say the oil companies are making a higher percentage of profits than they have before and another to document it.....so do it!......\

Its one think to say he is blocking production and another to document it. So do it!

okay....

within days of taking office.....
January 28, 2021

President Joe Biden has followed through on a campaign pledge by introducing a moratorium on new oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters. With nearly 25 percent of U.S. oil and gas production coming from federal lands, the policy shift may have significant implications for future investment and production. The backlash from oil and gas producing states will be fierce and lawsuits have already begun, but the Biden administration views this policy as a key part of its climate agenda and is unlikely to change course.
