Yeah, he should word all of his statements better, because, the accidental wording is the problem.

Also, you can't dismiss the charge of racism if you are a progressive, and believe diversity is an end unto itself.

What does diversity mean to you? And let's say that Biden DID mean that the Black community lack diversity, what does that mean to you?

To me, it is a means to a more peaceful and cohesive community/society. For other people (Biden's base, for example), it is an overarching and holistic view of society, mainly for the purpose of contrasting oneself from other people who (ironically) think differently.

Let's use the Cuban "race" (I'm using the term loosely) as an example. Do individuals differ in their experiences, cultures, outlooks and others? And do the "Cuban community" strive for a more peaceful cohesive community/society?

This is basically what I think Biden is trying to say. Latino and Hispanic are broad terms. "Incredibly diverse".

Frankly, I wouldn't include Spaniards and Portuguese in the Latino umbrella, as people have been doing. They should be categorised as Mediterranean, alongside the Greeks and Wops.

But, yeah, the Latino community is incredibly diverse, while the black community is monolithic.

Right right. That's what I am saying. Biden DID say notable exceptions.

With your quote, I could make a claim that Biden said that the Black race is superior to the Latino race.

Racism is the belief that one race is superior another. One does not need to say those exact words in order to believe that one race is superior, he only needs to say what it takes to demonstrate that he has that belief. Biden said that blacks (a race) have an inferior amount of diversity. Biden painted blacks as an entire race as inferior with a broad brush, indicating that it was the entire race with only a few exceptions. Biden's words demonstrate that he believes the entire race is inferior.

Notable exceptions further clarifies just how broad Bidens racist comment about blacks as a whole is. The entire race with only notable exceptions.

He said notable exceptions regarding blacks, not Latinos.
