Bill Cosby to be released from prison after conviction vacated.

He was released on a technicality.

lets get real here.......he wasn't released on a technicality. His conviction was VACATED!!!! Do you know what that means? It means at this time that he has not been convicted of the crime he's accused of. This is because government felt that they didn't need to follow the law, hoping that plebes like you would overlook their illegal and unethical actions..........

It is vacated with prejudice. That means his conviction not only is reversed, but it is impossible to retry him. Apparently this was done based on a promise made by a Republican in order to help Cosby. I think it is time to send that Republican to prison.

And yet it took two years to get him out of prison. None of this should have happened, that it did is an indictment on America.

I report the news, I don't write the news.

Bill Cosby’s Release Is Not an Exoneration

The former comedian’s verdict was overturned on procedural grounds. What does that mean?

Bill Cosby is a free man again. The disgraced comedian, accused of sexual assault by dozens of women, today saw his court verdict overturned on a technicality.

After his trial in 2018, I wrote that it would be a mistake to think of Cosby’s conviction as an ending to the Cosby case. As tempting as it was to treat the legal outcome as a definitive conclusion, the decision was just one element of a story that, for the 60 women who came forward to accuse Cosby of sexual misconduct, would never really end. This was the upshot of the testimony given by Andrea Constand—the only accuser to successfully bring a criminal case against him—and of the statements many other women had made in support of her. The consequences radiate, indefinitely.
It’s tempting to think of today’s overturned conviction in symbolic terms: as a shift in the course of #MeToo, or as a rejection of the stories those women came forward to tell. But the court’s logic came down to prosecutorial conduct and the demands of due process. It had nothing to do with Cosby’s guilt or innocence—it had very little to do with Cosby at all. It does not change the story. It certainly doesn’t end it.

Cosby is freed. He is not exonerated.

All you do is repeat the same shit over and over. You have the IQ of pea and you were definitely thrown at a wall at birth. And by the way you're all ass.

Let's see if you can answer this....

Can a hearse drive legally in a HOV lane?

it was a deal made by the government............no politics involved. this is what gets you stupid fuckers in to arguments.....you bring left/right politics in to the law/legal situation and it makes you look like a total fucking retard

completely agree.........but then we've already seen that a majority of our population is not smart enough, or courageous enough, to force government to abide by it's constitutional limits. the stupid majority would rather feel safe than be free

blah blah blah bunch of bullshit

this case saw a judge force the government to abide by the rules and by the law.......not only was it an exoneration, it was a condemnation of the government feeling it didn't need to follow the law or the rules.......it's also a condemnation of every single American who sees this as a travesty of justice instead of the government doing what it wants to and not being held accountable.

Bill Cosby’s Release Is Not an Exoneration

A Republican politician gave him a get out of jail free card... That is very different from being innocent. He is beyond doubt guilty, he just got out due to bribes and technicalities.

If it had been a deal made by the government, Cosby would still be in prison. Under common law, a deal must have a quid pro quo, literally a this for that. Cosby failed to perform anything for us.

It was a political press release, in order to help Cosby defend himself in court. He could not defend himself in a civil suit, without putting himself in danger in a criminal suit, so his buddies in the Republican Party conspired to get him a get out jail free card. Cosby did nothing to deserve it. There was no quo.

It was a press announcement made by a Republican politician, who went on to defend trump in one of his impeachments. If it were a deal, there would be required to be a quid pro quo. Cosby would have been required to do a public good.

For instance, trump's CFO is being offered a deal. If he turns on trump (a public good), then he will get reduced prison time. If he makes the deal, and fails to provide evidence against trump, then the deal is off.

that 'republican politician' happened to be the DA at the time, thus operating as a government official in government capacity. therefore, government

I guess any politician who takes a bribe also by definition represents the government, but that does not mean the government took a bribe.

Castor's press release is complicated by the fact that most of his press releases like that were made for personal reasons. He made press releases about his running for reelection, and press releases about why he should be reelected. The Supreme Court found that while these press releases were of a non-government nature, they should be counted on to understand what he is promising to do while in government.

Cosby is guilty. Even the Supreme Court says that Castor probably got Cosby out as a political favor. This is so dirty it is hard to believe the Republicans are actually proud of getting a rapist off.
