That's rather the point isn't it. There is no right without a guarentee of it, there's just action. Settlers carried weaponry or they didn't, there was no "right" and no law against it. It would be like saying the people in Russia have a right to step in the snow. They either do step or they don't.

Just because a government didn't recognize a right, doesn't mean it didn't exist. That's why the Bill of Rights doesn't say "The government gives..." it says "The government cannot take away..." Because rights are from a power HIGHER (be it god or whatever) than the government.
 
Yes, that is exactly the point. The right to carry a weapon was before the US Constitution. Our "rights" are inherent and not given to us by government. Now you're getting it.

My right to cross the street is always mine and always has been until someone or some law tells me I can't. Simple stuff here.

That seems like quite alot of effort to go to to annoy women. It'd be easier just to go to a feminist rally and start making rape jokes.

The bill of rights guarantee's that the government will not take away, therefore ensures. I still haven't got en explanation of how god guarantees your right to own a shotgun.

you have a natural right to self preservation. that natural right includes any and all means to whatever weapon you can/want to use to maintain your right to self preservation. Since firearms were the modern weaponry of the day and the founders witnessed and experienced governments trying to take away that means of self preservation, they wrote that keeping and bearing arms is your natural right. it's pretty self explanatory and logical unless one worships the state.

I'll explain it for you. In general, real bad asses don't cause trouble cause they have nothing to prove cause they are secure and confident in the knowledge that they are a bad ass. It's the guys who think they are bad asses that cause trouble cause they have a chip on their shoulder, due to being insecure, and are out to prove they are bad asses.

God didn't make all men Equal, Sam Colt did. When the Rodney King riots started, I had some anti-gun Liberal relatives of mine call me to see if they could borrow one of my many, at that time, guns. Because of the 10(?) day waiting period, no one could purchase a firearm in time for the riots. Also, I believe that all ammo sales were suspended in Los Angeles County. I remember one of the Los Angeles City Councilmen going on TV and telling everyone to not dial 911 for help, because most of the Policemen went home to protect their oen families, and that is why everyone should own a firearm, whether you like them or not...Capisce?
