Brexit: Michael Gove calls for extension of Brexit grace periods

For weeks, Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and other ministers have been describing the terrible problems that businesses are facing following Johnson's miserable Brexit deal as "teething problems".
Today. Michael Gove was forced to admit that they're much worse than that, and he has now called for an extension of "Brexit grace periods" in order prevent these problems - particularly in Northern Ireland - becoming even worse and stopping food reaching supermarkets.
It's clear to anyone with eyes to see that the basic problem is with the hugely destrcutive nature of the deal itself, which is strangling UK businesses with red tape - and not just in Nortern Ireland.
Brexit is very much not "done". We are looking at years of severe damage to our economy and protracted attempts at renegotiation aimed at trying to repair this.

The UK’s £35bn fashion and textile industry is facing “decimation” as a result of red tape and travel restrictions thrown up by the new post-Brexit trade agreement with the EU, Boris Johnson has been warned.

In an open letter to the UK’s prime minister leading fashion industry and chief executives and icons, including models Twiggy and Yasmin Le Bon, said that Brexit was strangling the complex international supply chains and relationships that underpinned their industry.

Ursula von der Leyen is now blaming her trade commissioner, Valdis Dombrovskis, for the vaccine fiasco that led her to threaten a hard border between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland without consulting the Irish government (or the UK, of course).

She has refused calls for a public debate in the European Parliament. Instead she will hold closed-door meetings with MEPs of parties who supported her appointment as President.
