Florida needs to push more of the "I don't need a doctor, I have Facebook" ideology along with being anti-vaccine. Eventually the problem will solve itself.

They say that they don't need educated people, just "really, really smart" people who were apparently unable to get a basic education. I disagree that education is unimportant, a caveman without any education can be as smart as he wants, he still will not build a lunar lander.

But I find myself mostly wondering why these supposedly "super duper smart" people were unable to get any education. The caveman I get, he lived in a world without universities. I get intelligent people in poor countries unable to get any education. Why would someone in America be unable to get an education?

I have no problem with those who do not want to get a classroom education. If you want to be a carpenter, get training, not a PHD. But if you want to be a scientist, get the scientific education you need.

It's a common error to assume that formal education is "intelligence".

If you needed to hire someone to design a computer chip, and a middling intelligent electrical engineer applied for the job, along with a really smart caveman who does not even know what writing is, why would you hire the caveman?

The leading reason people are leaving seems to be connected to their jobs.

I think you are underestimating how afraid minorities are to be extreme minorities. The vast majority of people do not want to be the only Jew, Black, East Asian, South Asian, or open homosexual in town. At the very least, it means you are all alone in your lifestyle, but more realistically, it means you are the target of violence.

Given the more recent hatred of educated people in the red states, you can add educated people into the list of minorities. Imagine being the one family in town that believes that evolution is real. Where would your children get an education?
