Saying "folks know it nowadays" is just a fallacious appeal to popularity. Did you look at the C-Span video?
Note that people were bowing their heads in prayer starting around 12:18. Also note that starting at 17:50 he was alert at the table and aroun 19:20 he coughed and bowed his head. He was listening and nodding his head at the speaker's remarks, not sleeping.

You can see they include the ACTUAL video link, so if you do not want to take their word for it, you can simply watch the video yourself and see he DID NOT nod off, as per the derp site you swallow without question. that is why Snopes is credible and the derp sites are not. No link to the source material should always tell you a Derp site is lying.

Like i said, had he thrown out some paper towels the same people would be praising his humanity and be ready to move on, just as Trump actually did with Puerto Rico. He made a big publicity announcement about Aid while there to grab the headlines, but then once back on the mainland set about blocking that aid and set about instead keeping the money.
But we know... we know... tan suit and Biden pet a dog. Those are the real controversies.

No one is saying Derp media cannot seek out partisan or angry or disenfranchised people to complain about things. Anything.
This is just like the right derps complaining about the train crash and Biden and Buttiege not getting their soon enough, with Trump showing up, when the Trump admin had hundreds of derailments and NEVER showed up to any of them. it is like the right derps pretending that gov't should have instant fixes days after immediate tragedies and pointing fingers, even as many of the efforts are quietly going in the background. And if Biden and Buttiege went there right away the same people would criticize them for showing up for a photo op and redirecting scarce resources to themselves as they draw in law enforcement, and others for their security and other needs.
Tragedies like this are the easiest things to exploit. People are mad, frustrated, and many need an outlet for blame, which is fine.
You are not going to be able to judge an administrations response in the days and weeks immediately following these mass tragedies. It is just pure partisan BS to even try.
