Let's say my daughter is pulled over by the cops and given a frivolous ticket. When we go to court and they drop the charge do I need to be interested in the name of the DA or even whether he exists in order to be happy for my daughter? Elation that one thing is not happening anymore does not mean interest in the cause of what had been happening.

You might not be interested in the DA's name; you obviously were interested in what was in the police report since it led you believe the arrest frivolous.
