Brits resort to pulling own teeth

Ah, I see. So people aren't becoming dentists then. I wonder why?

Maybe it is that high suicide rate of theirs.

It looks like Dentists that accept NHS subsidies aren't as plentiful and readily available as private practice dentists. I don't know. But I can't feel sorry for them. Someone's getting treated by NHS dentists so obviously they aren't looking hard enough.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Some English people have resorted to pulling out their own teeth because they cannot find -- or cannot afford -- a dentist, a major study has revealed.

Or cannot afford? I thought it was free...

So I read a bit further.

England has a two-tier dental care system with some dentists offering publicly subsidized treatment through the National Health Service and others performing more expensive private work.

But more than three-quarters of those polled said they had been forced to pay for private treatment because they had been unable to find an NHS dentist. Almost a fifth said they had refused dental treatment because of the cost.

It seems that dentists like to make money.

It looks like GB is a prime place for Dental Insurance to begin to weave its importance back into society.

I don't know if you could ocme to that conclusion based on this report. If these tards can't find an NHS dentist or afford the NHS dentist, I highly doubt they would be able to afford private dental insurance.

Maybe they need unions to fight for coverage....

This is not rocket science here. Clearly government run entity is going to be far more wasteful and inefficient then a privately run entity.

The reason you can't find an NHS dentist is because the government, in their esteemed wisdom, decided to change the terms of the central contracts. Many dentists decided to go private, forcing their customers to pay private insurance.

If you can't afford it you're pretty much buggered as all the dental practises are either fully private or only offering NHS care to children. The few NHS practises available are full up, so unless a few hundred people are involved in a hideous gas leak or something, you've no chance of getting on the books.

Luckily, most Britons haven't got that many teeth to worry themselves over if they're past the age of 30, which is handy.

Yep most hillbilly ancestors came from England.

And you are trying to bring this socialized no tooth policy to the Us of A, thank you butt, no? RJS has movie starr teeth, all caps, it cost him 20 thousand dollars and the last thing i need is you brits bringing your commie sheet here, where I would not be able to get free dental care. Even though I cannot get free dental care in the US now, it still bothers me, so, do not even think about it capsice?

Teeth are overrated. How many do you really need anyway? Two for biting and two for chewin' is plenty. Anything more is capitalist decadence.

While RJS can see the upside of a woman having no teeth, I still like having my gleaming, movie star set of choppers for myself. Truth be told I like my women to have teeth even though you can get the stray bite here and there, if you know what I mean, maybe not being a Brit, do you have oral over there?
