" But we need them to pick our fruit and vegetables!"

A few decades ago, the foreign workers had a temporary work Visa. They came during harvest season, picked the fruits and vegetables and then went home.

It worked beautifully until the far left loons tried to use them for votes and power.
They still have that program. The H2-A which I speak of here.

Interesting seeing the 3 or 4 big farmers I know in South FLA around MAR are all Republicans and have been for years.
And they are saying if they can't get these workers their crops will be rotting in the field,
They can't get reliable pickers and need them or there will be a shortage of a lot of vegetables come FEB, March
Then they are lying, or you are. There is an H2A visa program they can use to obtain LEGAL foreign farm workers.

When you look at the big picture, and consider the costs to other parts of society, by having the Illegals being used in not just farm laborers, but also in food processing and meat packing plants, and as roofers, road repair crews, and many other labor class jobs...

and also the street drug gangs, the organized shop lifting, the smash and grabs, and home invasions...

and also the costs to the schools, medical clinics, jails, and increase in needed police...

When you sum the costs, and fold it into the cost of the vegetables, the price with the illegals is far, far greater than the price would be without them.

It is NOT a cost savings, it is a very expensive way to get your Vegetables+Chaos!

Employers cannot hire illegals. They would be fined or arrested. That is a lie filled talking point.

Here is what I'll say. First off,...I believe that any man or woman who puts in a good days work should be paid a decent wage,...regardless of where they come from. You don't get to just abuse desperate people and take advantage of them just because they are not American citizens. Not IMO. Having said that,....the mega farms are simply going to have to raise the prices of their products so that they can pay Americans to do the work. That means decent pay and benefits. If that means I have to pay more for the product then so be it. At least it will be giving Americans half way decent jobs. In the end the money all gets recirculated back into the economy anyway.
No one is forcing anyone in this country to work for less than they think they are worth. That's the beauty of a free market system.

And the family run farm, orchard or ranch is gone now too, replaced by humongous Corp farms, were everything is not targeted at providing food, working class jobs, and community, but rather it is focused on 0.8% greater profits, so that the CEO and Board can get another Million each in Annual bonuses.

So, they use even more pesticide, pick the fruit silly green, don't allow the pickers to break to pee, so they piss in the fields and spread weird South American diseases.

In the minds of the Farm-Corp-CEO, the Illegal Pickers are just sub-human Machines.

Who is being forced to work on this big corporate farms? Your claim is false as well.

In fact, the ERS found that 99 percent of U.S. farms were still structured as family farms in 2015, and they account for about 90 percent of farm production.

The report further noted that the few farms organized as nonfamily corporations generally have less than 10 stockholders — in other words, they are more Main Street than Wall Street. Hardly the sinister tale being spun by farm foes.

For the sake of discussion, I respectfully throw this out. As this past election showed people do not like inflation, i.e. higher prices. And that is exactly what will happen by increasing labor cost for people picking fruit, cleaning hotels, cleaning peoples homes, etc.

Did it happen during the first Trump administration when illegals were, for the most part, kept out. No, this is a moronic claim lacking factual data.

We’re also not in a period of high unemployment. And you look at demographic issues we don’t have it as bad as some other countries but nonetheless with the boomers setting to retire, we need more workers in America.

There are visa programs for that. H2A and H2B. You might want to check it out before all your handwringing.

So having less people in the country under the guise we would need less policeman and less teachers and so forth is not going to compensate. we would have large price increases and our entitlement programs would become even more costly.

No one, who matters, has made such a laughably preposterous argument. :palm:

Immigrants work in construction, hospitality, hospitals, and on farms, among other jobs. Those who hire them usually know they are illegals. That is who we should be charging if you want it to end. You should not want it to end. They are a boon to the economy. They start businesses at a greater rate than the American population does. They commit crimes at a lower rate than the American population does.
I knew a guy who owned a construction company. He said he hired them so he could lower his bids and get more jobs.
They pay taxes for programs they do not qualify for.
America needs them to grow the economy.
Legal immigrants, not ILLEGAL.

Why do morons on the left conflate everything? Because they are the most dishonest, brainless loons on the planet.

They don't have to be illegal,

Yet, your fellow leftist mental cases are trying to make that argument. Try to keep up.

but there are not enough US citizens and legal immigrants available to fill all those jobs. This has been explained to you repeatedly and you are just too stupid to understand simple math or simple economics.

Link to this asinine claim.

Hey, Robert Kennedy is going to take care of that

Yes, and you will still be here whining like a little bitch and pounding those tiny insignificant little fists on the table.

I amused by dullards whose main argument appears to be that the last four years worked out just fine and we should do nothing to change it.

Of course there are. There are reportedly 11 million illegals in the country. Stop pretending there is some kind of economic necessity to this bullshit. You idiots think everyone is as stupid as you
There are only 7 million people in the US (citizens and green card holders) that are considered unemployed and looking for work.

Which number is bigger? 11 or 7?
