California kills off truck sales by 2035

California has passed another greentard law requiring half of all new heavy trucks sold there (the big commercial and construction kind) to be electric powered by 2035. I can see trucking and construction companies, wherever possible not registering vehicles in California to avoid this law. That will kill off truck sales of that kind likely entirely by 2035. Why go electric when you can simply register your fleet in another state and avoid Cali's law?

Why ship anything to or from or through California? They don't want trucks.

Do you honestly think California will have the same governor and agenda in 12 years?
It is unknown whether the people will rise up and put down this dictator.
This may be a goal, but things will change by then.
That depends on whether the people will rise up and put down this dictator.
I think Blue Hydrogen will also be a competitive player in the mix by then!
Hydrogen is colorless and odorless.
The oil companies are already planning their future, and investing in the development of Blue Hydrogen.
Hydrogen is colorless and odorless. Using hydrogen in vehicles is environmentally unsound. You have to make it. That means the use of a lot of energy to do it, more than just charging an EV. You have to store it. Hydrogen has much less energy than gasoline for the pressures available in cars.
So you really don't have to go to bat for Crude Oil anymore. Because the OIL COMPANIES HAVE ALREADY MOVED ON!
No, they haven't. Oil products are still their primary product.

Alternative greener fuels
Define 'alternative greener fuels'. Buzzword fallacy.
and more choices are the real agenda- NOT JUST ELECTRIC AUTOMOBILES.
Letting the energy market function without government interference is what should be done...NO agenda.
Until the world runs out of Natural Gas deposits,
Methane is a renewable fuel. It can also be synthesized. The world will never run out of methane.
many people believe that Blue Hydrogen will be the go to fuel of the future!
Hydrogen is colorless and odorless.
At least, the Big Oil companies believe it will be.
No. Oil companies sell oil products.
It’s less interesting for smaller consumer vehicles, as battery-powered cars are being adopted much more readily. But bigger vehicles require larger batteries, which increases their weight, which in turn increases their energy use. Hydrogen can be a way around that conundrum.
No. Hydrogen doesn't have sufficient energy density at the pressures available in cars (or trucks). It also must be created. There are no 'hydrogen deposits'. That means massive amounts of energy to create it, more electricity than simply charging an EV.

I don't know why people are having such a hard time realizing that the world is changing- Or even why we are politicizing the fact that the world is changing.
Change for the worse is not desirable change. I do not support fascism or communism.
But America has had it's heyday of hopping up into their V8 gasoholic Trucks that you could walk under and play with the gas tank!
Because you dictate so? Fuck you.
God! Am I glad I am not having to pay for the gasoline for one of those BIG TOYS anymore.
You never did, lizard.
Now, understanding that a man has to make a living and a lot of them use these incredible vehicles to bring the bacon home. But, the truth is, most of them are just expensive toys for bragging rights, and OH YES and very convenient, versatile, and fun to drive as well.
You wouldn't know.
So, I understand, these thangs are going to be hard to give up for most men. Don't you just love the sound of the V8 with that flowmaster exhaust system- IN FULL STRIDE? I know I do! Sort of reminds me of another expensive toy of mine- my Harley Davidson. SO, I'm with you guys on not wanting to just let go of all that just to save the planet.
The planet does not need 'saving'. It's big enough to take care of itself.
But that is not really what this is all about really. What we are talking about here is how the world will be in 12 years from now. And I doubt seriously if I will even still be here in 12 years.

To deny what's coming is a fool's game.
I do not deny that fascism and communism is 'coming' (it's already here!). I do not deny the oligarchies and dictatorships it takes to implement them either. As always, schemes like this will fail.
And to think some political party is going to somehow change our future, or to be able to hang on to the past is really just a distraction from the reality that we will all have to change some of our ways, just to be able to keep up with what's coming whether we like it or not.
Void argument fallacy. Buzzword fallacies.
Here is the deal, if electric cars are not for you quite yet- DON'T BUY ONE.
If they are mandated by the dictator or oligarchy, you don't get a choice...unless you overthrow said dictatorship or oligarchy.
But, electric cars are here to stay, are rapidly becoming more popular every day, and all of your negative energy is not going to change that fact.
Less than 1% of the cars on the road are EVs. EVs are being abandoned by Toyota (the largest automotive company in the world). The market just doesn't support them without mandates and government subsidies.
That is why these electric car HATE threads are basically hilarious to me! And all this hatred for California, Chicago, and New York is really starting to get old as well.
Too bad. Deal with it.
My God- Is there anything you people don't hate?
Extreme argument fallacy. Just because I dislike EVs doesn't mean I dislike everything.

Sir, no one is forcing electric cars down your throat!
Blatant lie.
No one is telling you what kind of house you can live in!
Blatant lie.
You are just politically jaded,
Inversion fallacy.
and you want to find someone to blame for everything you don't like in this world. And damn- that's a lot- because you seem to hate everything and everybody!
Extreme argument fallacy.
Do you think the American Automakers are Democrats?
Do you think Musk is a Democrat?
Do you think the foreign car manufacturers are Democrats?
Nonsensical. Companies do not belong to political parties.
You are chasing your own tail here! Everything on earth is not political! SO you better start getting used to it!
Void argument fallacy.
Sir, if you are purchasing cars or guns or anything for political reasons- or not buying them for political reasons- you are already over-thinking things!
Void argument fallacy.

You are a BLOWHARD that does not even live in California,
He doesn't need to. Insult fallacy. Straw man fallacy.
but crying about what that state is doing to resolve THEIR problems.
California is CAUSING their own problems. It's so bad it's negatively affecting States around the SDTC.
Just as you are a Man, and trying to tell women what to do with their own bodies.
He isn't.
Why don't you start minding your own business and stop complaining about things that do not even pertain to yourself?
No. It is his business...and mine...to stop the spread of this insanity where possible.

TAG is completely wrong about leftists forcing change in society. Humanity is just past its prime.

A species' quality of life begins to diminish as it [the species in question] approaches the end of its run.

As an elderly person, I can attest with perfect honesty that I lived in a more amusing, entertaining, and fun world as a young person that I do now.
Many genuinely great things have come to us in my lifetime, and for each one, at least five great things have been taken away.
Even many of the good new things are quickly made crappier in the name of progress.

The quality of human life is very obviously diminishing.
If you've lived long enough, you either notice it
or dementia has already overtaken you, preventing you from noticing the obvious.

If you haven't lived for very long, you can't begin to image what you've missed.
This makes you lucky in a way;

but just because you don't notice,
that doesn't mean that your life is not nearly as good as it once could have been.
This is especially true if you're an urban person who missed the immediate post war glory of urban America.

Here, somebody is going to say that I'm looking at things from the perspective of a white male.
How, however, can anybody hold it against me that I've never experienced life as anything else?
It's not my place to assess the changes in life quality for people very different than myself.
Nor should it be my primary interest. We wish everybody the best, hopefully, but we worry about ourselves.

I just know that on a beautiful night in Boston like tonight, only fifty or sixty years ago,
I wouldn't be wasting my time on the internet. I'd be walking around Revere Beach, eating junk food from the stands,
and deciding in which club to spend a little time as the music spilled out onto the streets
and the young kids screamed form the roller coaster and such.

That's all gone now. Nothing decent ever replaced it. Or ever will.
.

I can only cry about the death of America and the rotting out of the people, failures which are joined at the hip, so many times.

It is the large democrat run cities that are destroying this country.

No, the failure runs a whole lot deeper than that.

The core cause of this cancer is where it was born, at the failed Universities....which Conservatives abandoned to the insane a long time ago.

California is only hurting themselves here. They are also, in a sense, acting as a bully using their large economy to force their decisions on other states like they did with pork recently.

What they think they are doing is bullying the rest of the nation into doing as they demand, something that has too often worked.

That's the Left for you--authoritarians who base their decisions largely on what's popular with them and in line with their religious dogma...
