TAG is completely wrong about leftists forcing change in society. Humanity is just past its prime.
A species' quality of life begins to diminish as it [the species in question] approaches the end of its run.
As an elderly person, I can attest with perfect honesty that I lived in a more amusing, entertaining, and fun world as a young person that I do now.
Many genuinely great things have come to us in my lifetime, and for each one, at least five great things have been taken away.
Even many of the good new things are quickly made crappier in the name of progress.
The quality of human life is very obviously diminishing.
If you've lived long enough, you either notice it
or dementia has already overtaken you, preventing you from noticing the obvious.
If you haven't lived for very long, you can't begin to image what you've missed.
This makes you lucky in a way;
but just because you don't notice,
that doesn't mean that your life is not nearly as good as it once could have been.
This is especially true if you're an urban person who missed the immediate post war glory of urban America.
Here, somebody is going to say that I'm looking at things from the perspective of a white male.
How, however, can anybody hold it against me that I've never experienced life as anything else?
It's not my place to assess the changes in life quality for people very different than myself.
Nor should it be my primary interest. We wish everybody the best, hopefully, but we worry about ourselves.
I just know that on a beautiful night in Boston like tonight, only fifty or sixty years ago,
I wouldn't be wasting my time on the internet. I'd be walking around Revere Beach, eating junk food from the stands,
and deciding in which club to spend a little time as the music spilled out onto the streets
and the young kids screamed form the roller coaster and such.
That's all gone now. Nothing decent ever replaced it. Or ever will.
