Can the country be unified?

Of course I do. In my experience, Christians outside the US behave much more in line with the Jesus Christ described in the Bible than most American Christians do. Above all, they demonstrate humility and tolerance for "others" much more than American Christians do. I'm not exactly sure why that is. Even non-religious Americans tend to be more smug and less understanding of differences and less curious about them, so I think part of it is cultural. There is also a lot of judgment of people that gets preached from American pulpits. I have attended services in other countries (and even some in the US) that emphasize the good examples that Jesus set rather than condemning the actions of other people. That sort of is the point, I think. None of us are "without sin", so to judge someone else's sins as worse than one's own (especially when they're not worse at all) is hypocritical; and hypocritical is the first word I would use to describe most American Christians.

I think this is because we are infected with the cult of the individual, and we've all been indoctrinated with the false religion of American exceptionalism. Of course we're a great country. But a lot of other countries are just as great, and some are even better. Unlike many Asians, Europeans, and Africans, few of us are bilingual. That's because we think English is the best language and expect everyone else to cater to us and learn it.

It can.

But the problem is that too many Americans do not believe in democracy.

That is the problem. You cannot unify a nation if a large minority does not even want a democracy.

In a word, NO .. In fact it’s only going to get worse. Democrats consistently win the popular vote and the right will continue to feel marginalized and ‘oppressed.’ I expect the worse long before it gets any better.

Until we kill the lie machines like fox “news”

The Democratic party does gerrymander. The Republican party just does it much more and much worse. I can't immediately think of any evil tactics that the Republicans use that the Democrats do not also use, even if to a lesser extent. I don't think the modern Democrats would have stolen two SCOTUS seats, but I imagine those bets are off the table now.

You are filled to the brim with baseless Republican lies

Yet you talk on here like a liberal

Something is very very wrong with you

Thank you for clarifying. The Democratic party has gerrymandered congressional districts, obstructed legislative progress, starved good candidates, fed bad ones, and taken control of our political system from the only true stakeholders: the voters. The Democratic party is the same as the Republican party but didn't elevate a satanic asshole like Trump to the White House.

A pack of lies you refuse to back with SOME KIND of verifiable facts

What kind of person would repeat baseless facts?

Someone like trump would

This nation can return to unity

ONCE FACTS RULE THE DAY AGAIN

THOSE WHO REPEAT LIES AND IGNORE FACTS ARE THIS NATIONS ENEMY

Girl, don't even get me started. Too late.

People don't know what they don't know. Americans are among the most isolated people in the world. We do believe in American exceptionalism and have gotten smug as the world's only superpower for three decades. We took the incredible achievements and victory of WWII and gradually morphed them into what we have now. We're isolated geographically, culturally, politically, and linguistically. We only consume our food, our music, our films, our television, our clothing, etc. We're so vast in area that although there are regional differences throughout the country, they are few and relatively minor compared to the differences between different countries. A person can drive for five days in the US and speak English and eat American food the entire time. In Europe, you can drive for a couple hours in any direction and be in a place that has a completely different language, history, architectural style, customs, culture, laws, cuisine, etc.

Europeans roll their eyes or laugh when I describe a typical American workday and work year. I think I have been asked at some point by every single Scandinavian person who knows me well enough to ask why we work ourselves to death. I always answer that it's because we have to be the best. They take two months off every year and work about six hours a day. They have as much quality of life as we have, are happier than we are, and are wealthy. They're just not number 1; and they don't care. When I even suggest that the US isn't the best in everything, some American usually tells me I'm unpatriotic and that I should go back to where I came from if I don't like it here. I love the US, but I find many Americans to be insufferable because of their ignorance and their misplaced superiority. And for what it's worth, I think it's a crime that Americans are not forced to learn a second language in school. Until a person knows more than one language, I think it's not very easy to completely understand language, which is why so many Americans can't even speak English even though it's the only language they know.

I don’t care what side you claim to support

If you embrace lies and deny cold hard facts presented you

You are killing this nation
