Can you impeach a former president ?

You are. The idea is to keep him from holding any office again by showing evidence of his corruption. Impeachment is over. He was impeached twice. Trump was so terrible at the job that many Repubs are relieved he is gone. McConnell wants him gone.

Still, he can not be impeached when he is not in office. That is the purpose of impeachment. The Democrats are ignoring the rule of law to prevent him from running again. It will be much harder to defraud him in 2024 and they know it.

McConnell has now power over Trump's base. He is serving his last term.

Why would they not want Trump to run again? It will be much harder to defraud him in 2024 and they know it. He is out of office and the impeachment has 0 Constitutional basis or backing. But please, show me what it says about impeaching private citizens. I'll wait.

NAMBLA and the Boy Scouts seem willing to help Trump run again. No doubt the Russians and Chinese would also support him as well as Kim and various asshole dictators around the world.

Sigh. Trump has already been impeached. He has been "charged/indicted". He is awaiting trial. So let's pretend that I commit a crime in Texas. I get arrested and charged. A court date is set. I'm released on my own recognizance. I travel to Oklahoma. Are you seriously suggesting that because I am no longer the subject of TX's jurisdiction that I don't have to go to court? Think.

And this is going to completely tie up the senate.

Even Biden thinks it was stupid because it effectively stops his administration cold.

Since democrats control the house they have a little control over the speed of the trial but republicans can still delay it for quite a long time.

Ultimately the democrats will have to call for a vote without a thorough investigation being done and if found guilty then Trump would take it to the Supreme Court.

So the democrats kind of fucked themselves here and they have midterms in two years. If they don't get anything done there is zero chance of them keeping congress.

This post didn't age too well, did it? None of us need Trump farting Big Macs on camera during the next presidential campaign. He needs to be neutered and imprisoned. The House did the right thing.

I don't know and don't care. Donald Trump was impeached while in office for high crimes and misdemeanors. He will be tried in the Senate to determine (per the Constitution) whether he will be allowed to hold office again. Is this really that difficult for you? Maybe a picture book would help?
