Can you impeach a former president ?

trump was impeached when he was president. The impeachment trial would happen sometime in the future, but the impeachment has already happened.

As long as there is a material issue to be settled, usually trials continue. So as long as trump could run for office, the trial would usually continue. If trump died, I see no reason for a trial.

After a little thought, I will add that neither of us get to make this decision. The Supreme Court does not get to make this decision. The House does not get to make this decision. It is the Senate who makes this decision. If the Senate sees no need for a trial, for any reason, there is no appeal. If the Senate decides on a trial, likewise, there is no appeal.

We can all whine about it all we want, but the Senate decides for their own reasons.

The Senate cannot refuse to hold a trial.

They can't just ignore it because Trump is allowed a defense so there are certain procedures which have to be followed like allowing unlimited witness to testify.

If the democrats don't allow that and rush a vote there can't be a conviction due to them not allowing a fair trial.

It will go down in history as two failed impeachments by the democrats which make them look like the fools they are.

No no. It was two successful impeachments. The first impeachment was settled by acquittal. The second one probably will be, too, but there were no "failed impeachments". Trump is a disgrace to the presidency, to Americans, and to humanity.

I don't know and don't care. Donald Trump was impeached while in office for high crimes and misdemeanors. He will be tried in the Senate to determine (per the Constitution) whether he will be allowed to hold office again. Is this really that difficult for you? Maybe a picture book would help?

I showed you a picture book of evidence the courts would not hear. It did not do you any good. The impeachment means 0 constitutionally. Why do you think the Chief Justice said he will not preside over it?

Yes, you showed us a video of a suitcase. ROTLFMFAO!!! You are such a dweeb. Roberts has not said he wouldn't preside, and the reason he'd rather not is because he wants to appear non-partisan. Why are you so dishonest?

what crime did he commit and why wasn't he removed from office ?

O yes because he didnt commit a crime and was found not guilty

I am not dishonest, you are. There is no debate on that subject. I also believe what I see with my own eyes. Anyone who does not has very serious problems. I recommend they get to a safe spot until everyone stops saying things they know are true and force them to lie about or be ejected from the America Haters club.

He can't be removed since he's leaving but he can be kept from running again. Impeachment was also begun while he was still president and not the former.

Impeachment was finished when he was in office. All that is left is the Senate trial. The house impeaches and they did.

The Chief Justice says he will not be there. I guess that tells you what he thinks about it, that dumb whore.

Yeah, he does not want to put up with the vitriol and stupidity of Trumpies. You rightys are crazed and can be dangerous. He does not need that grief. And, it tells you nothing else.

Did he say that? Please quote him for me, or stop talking out of your ass.

That is what you did. You made unsubstantiated claims about why he did not offer his services. I can understand why he does want to get in a scrum when righty nuts are involved.

The fact that Trump is no longer in office makes impeachment moot. It is for removing someone from political office, nothing more. Think of it as a statute of limitations on the act. The time runs out when the person to be impeached leaves office.

You understand very little.

" the chief justice will not be there. I guess that tells you what he thinks about that dumb whore."..Do those words seem familiar? You are suggesting clearly that he is eschewing the trial because of Pelosi. How do you know that? You are claiming you know why he is not sitting the trial. Can you understand your own posts? That is your crippled argument..

No that is an opinion. Come back when you know the difference between opinion and fact.

You are. The idea is to keep him from holding any office again by showing evidence of his corruption. Impeachment is over. He was impeached twice. Trump was so terrible at the job that many Repubs are relieved he is gone. McConnell wants him gone.

How do you manage to be so wrong about things and lisp when you type?
