Can you watch Tom Jones, "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" and not laugh or cry?

Tom Jones does not hit my soul bone. He just does not do it for me.

I feel he's 2 shades whiter than me, and I'm a cracker.

Oh! But there's always this!

Race is not all that important to me.

If you use race as a dividing line, you will include too many of the wrong folks and exclude too many of the right folks and marginalize yourself in the eyes of decent folks who will conclude you are a bigot and force you into always trying to defend yourself against that maybe false belief.

I choose not to do that to myself.

I remember an interview where Tom Jones was asked if he ever got tired of the women of the audience throwing their panties on the stage.

His answer was some version of "Fuck No!".

It isn't race...uhm..he's like Neil Sedaka or Burt Bacharach. Maybe a little better. He's certainly unique.
I don't listen to Neil Sedaka either. :D
Not if I can help it.
Tom Jones is better.

Marshall Dillon, I have always liked you. And your patriotism is a source of inspiration.

So, although I disagree with your assessment of some singers, I hope we can agree to disagree and just move on.

:)

This thread was (and to my mind remains) 15% about Tom Jones and 85% about people's reactions to his song.

But to each his own.

;)

I saw this reaction video and it made me think of your post.

That's probably the best song I've heard from Tom Jones, and it's good.

Jones is a legend in his own right.

Did you laugh or cry at any of the reaction videos?

Neither. Tom Jones pretty much wrote his own ticket with that song.

He is a great talent. It's his style i can't get into. Even though that's almost a blues.
ahhh, ahhh,,ehh..People better recognize Tom Jones is ..An American legend.

It's me, It's a genre of music I'm not particularly fond of.
I grew up on older and newer stuff.
That was largely left out.
Seriously Tom Jones is a legend, and I am fully cognizant of that and it's more than well-deserved.

Just really none of his songs hit that thing with me.

I would never criticize Tom Jones, but I might never play any of his songs, either.

Never say never. He's better than Barry Manilow. And Neil Sedaka.
