Burning coal does not magickally turn it into potassium or any potassium salt. Fly ash is not a fertilizer either. Indeed, it's somewhat destructive to plants.

Still a 'tard. Burning coal or wood results in ash being left over after combustion. You then can convert the ash to potash through one of several chemical processes.
Canada produces a lot of potash because they have a lot of forest. The US can substitute the mountains of fly ash we have to make potash as a replacement if Canada won't sell us theirs.
