Mark Zmuda, a former vice principal and swim coach at Seattle's Eastside Catholic High School, was dismissed per direct order of the Archdiocese of Seattle, after being confronted about his gay marriage.


Zmuda's dismissal is not the first of its kind. In the past month, Brian Panetta, a band and choir director at Sandusky Central Catholic School in Ohio, was forced to resign after telling his his principal he planned to marry his boyfriend.


In December, Michael Griffin was fired from his position as a Spanish and French instructor at Holy Ghost Preparatory High School in Pennsylvania days after he told his superiors he planned to apply for a wedding license in New Jersey.

I find it disturbing that the catholic church will fire teachers for being gay, but will transfer, hide and enable priests who molest young children.

And if a Muslim or Jewish parochial school in Brooklyn did the same thing.... who'd care? Or even a black Christian school?

This isn't about gays, Muslims, Jews, or blacks.

It's about trashing Catholics.

It does actually depend on the ages.

Let me explain this once and hope you catch on. This will not be a lengthy discussion.

Men who have sex with prepubescent boys may or may not be gay. The FBI does not classify them as gay, and neither do numerous researchers.

The prepubescent child's body has very little resemblance to an adult body of either gender. Pedophiles are attracted to that child-like body. The fact that more boys are molested than girls is more about availability than about the sexual orientation of the molester. Little girls are watched more closely than little boys. An adult male is often unable to be alone with a young girl, but can easily be alone with a young boy. So unless the molester focuses much attention on the child's genitalia, the gender of the victim is not the issue. The age of the victim is the issue.

As far as the "under 18" part of your question, my previous explanation was very clear about 'prepubescent' victims. Do you think there are many prepubescent 16 and 17 year old males?

The arbitrary line we have drawn, the age 18, is not the deciding factor in whether or not the perp is gay.

Since when does an American law enforcement agency get to decide for the world the definition of sexual behavior?

Besides, I'd like to see a link that says as much.

And if the Des Moines, Iowa Police Department disagreed, would that matter much either?
